Matt Cain's accelerated spring seems to have turned out just fine. The San Francisco fifth starter had his routine interrupted when a cyst in his upper pitching arm burst and required surgery Feb. 25. Cain allowed one earned run and two hits in five innings of his final tuneup Saturday in the Giants' 4-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics, throwing 88 pitches after tossing 90 his previous outing.
