As expected, the A's on Friday activated lefty Brett Anderson from the disabled list while simply adding another to the ever-growing injured file. Andrew Bailey, who on Thursday night revealed a right intercostal (rib) strain, was officially placed on the 15-day DL to clear a space for Anderson, but the A's closer doesn't expect to miss as much time as his fellow pitcher, who was out for nearly two months with elbow tendinitis. Bailey could be activated as early as Aug. 6, when the A's begin a three-game home set against the Rangers, and he hopes to either be ready then or shortly thereafter.
