<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">From his vantage point, Mavericks coach Avery Johnson has seen his players give 100 percent during the first three games of the season.

He was even impressed with their performance during last week's 93-82 loss at Utah.

"I was as proud of our team in Utah as I was in the two wins because I thought they gave me everything they had," Johnson said. "I think we've pretty much been aggressive the first three games."

Johnson is banking on that trend continuing as the Mavs (2-1) begin a three-game road trip at 6 tonight in Philadelphia. They will play in Charlotte on Friday and Oklahoma City on Saturday.

"We just want to compete at a high level and try to continue to put some consistency together," Johnson said.

    Dampier doing fine

Avery Johnson said that even though center Erick Dampier is averaging only 4.7 points and 6 rebounds per game, he's made some positive contributions that don't show up in the statistics.

"He's not going to be a guy that's a stat-blaster for our team right now," Johnson said. "But he's competing at a high level -- a lot of physicality from him this year. We want him to communicate a little bit more on defense, and I think he's attempting to do that. He's been an inside presence for us."</div>

    C.O.Y?

As long as everyone is giving 100%, I'm happy with the team. My only problem so far, is Erick Dampier.

Terry Stotts, Flip, and Mike Dunleavy are IMO, so far.

Dunleavy is probably the leading candidate at this point, but Flip is there too.
