In a game that was anything but defensive, it was the Omaha defense that finally held when it needed to Saturday as the Beef outlasted the Nebraska Danger 46-37 at the Civic Auditorium in the first meeting between the new in-state rivals. In a game that saw the lead change hands 11 times, Omaha finally got the upper hand in the fourth quarter, holding Nebraska to just three points and getting a key sack of Dixie Wooten in the end zone for a safety and the first two-possession lead of the game with five minutes remaining. And after last week's woeful offensive performance at West Texas that saw the Beef score just 16 points and total 98 offensive yards, the return of James McNear, who missed the two previous games with a groin injury, was enough to make coach Andy Yost smile a bit.
