I'm not religious by any means but these are offensive, IMO.

I don't believe in organized religion, but I do believe there is a higher power.

I always respect someone's freedom of speech, no matter how offensive others may find that speech. Good for the athiests.

Do you find both of them offensive, or just one, and why? The first one just offers support for folks who are atheist so that they realize they aren't the only ones out there. The other one is basically saying, Santa is bullshit, but why not just be good because it is the right thing to do? What is offensive about that? If you actually think about it, the whole Santa Clause thing is one of the most hypocritical Christian things existing anyhow. Let me see. You lie to your kids about the existence of a mythical guy named Santa Clause. Then you shower them with gifts and seed in greed. Good job.

By the way, the reason it makes you feel uncomfortable, is because it made you question your beliefs. Being uncomfortable and offensive are two different things.

a rep from the organization responsible for the DC sign was on the factor last night. he said a local station had interviewed a bunch of people on the street there and couldn't find anyone who was insulted by it.

I've never ventured into the OT forum before. I think I'll take a look around.

These signs are a breath of fresh air.

There is absolutely nothing offensive about this. It's plainly asking a question. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm a Christian, but these signs don't bother me a bit. I guess that they're intended to be a little confrontational with those who believe in a higher power, but I think most of us can handle it. I know God isn't threatened by it. :)

I'm a Christian, and I don't find these offensive. I think that is the main difference between Christians and Athiest. If we try to express our truthful beliefs, they cry that we are trying to force our religion down their throats. If Athiest try to flaunt their lies, we just pray for them to see the way. At the end, we will all see who is right. I like my chances better than theirs.

I guess I am offended a little, only because I would think you could just say that you don't HAVE to believe in a god, just be good for yada yada yada.

Whatever, I would take that over the billboards in Spanish that we have here that show a 350 lb Mexican woman who is about 55 years old holding up a bra that could be used as a parachute for siamese twins.

Just makes me go OOOOOH Groosssssssssssssssssssssss in my head.

I hope this post was meant to be sarcastic.

Anyways, considering America would rather vote a homosexual into the White House than an atheist, it kinda tells you how favourably people view atheists in the US.

The day after Obama got elected, there were evangelicals waving massive flags that said something about Jesus on it yelling that the anti-christ was among us, not to go along what the rest of the world thought is good (Obama), and that the end was near and that we are all going to hell if we don't do something. They were going around, getting in people's way of going to class.

Then we had a guy in speaker's circle talking about how what Darwin said in his book is the truth, and a bunch of evangelicals just started taunting him the entire time, and he hardly could get a word out without being interrupted, despite being the one in the circle.

Christians on the whole are pretty good. About half of the evangelical christians are horrible people though. The good thing is that a lot of the horrible evangelicals congregate in certain regions of the country, and the whackjobs are only a minority elsewhere.

Don't stereotype gays though, cuz only like 80 percent of them are all the same.

I'm an atheist and I don't find religious billboard/bus adverts offensive per se, but I do think it's a bit out of order for them to essentially say in their adverts "believe in this made up book or you're going to spend eternity in hell". And saying that Christians don't find this offensive is simply wrong, there has been a bit of discontent raised in England where slogans such as "There is probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life" have been put on buses (note - "probably"). I actually find your post "if Atheists try to flaunt their lies..." more offensive, though you will probably find my bit above offensive, and I respect that. Anyway, here's another pretty good article about it:

I'm catholic but I don't mind, but I think they should do the same for Jews and Muslims too. See what happens then.

The thing is they won't because they're scared of the ramifications. Its cool to make fun of christians but heaven forbid you speak ill of the Jews or even worse, just imagine if they started throwing up billboards that Allah doesn't exist. They'd be run the fuck outta dodge.

So to these athiests: y'all a bunch of mark ass bitches.

At least in England, they are saying that Allah doesn't exist. Not explicitly, but they are saying that there is (probably) no God, which would mean that Allah doesn't exist either.
