<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Today's question: Is there any scenario where the Hawks trade down to acquire more talent in the first round? YES - There's one deal that would seem to make a lot of sense for both teams, though we at the Journal-Constitution would never try to suggest how either team should work the draft. The Bobcats are desperate for either Marvin Williams or Chris Paul, neither of whom should be available at pick Nos. 5 or 13. With a move down, the Hawks could land a point guard, perhaps North Carolina's Raymond Felton at No. 5, and a solid big man at No. 13 --- say, 6-11 Connecticut talent Charlie Villanueva or Pitt's bruising 6-10, 260-pound Chris Taft. The Hawks need help in both of those areas, and getting Felton and Villanueva or Taft would provide them with an influx of talent, size and skill in two key areas. </div> Source
Trade doesn't make sense at all for the Bobcats because they need as much as young talent as possible. As of now, I rather have Felton and Wright/Webster/Whoever over Paul alone if I was the Bobcats GM.
^ agreed, getting the 13th pick just for moving down 2 spots seems like an awfully sweet deal for the Hawks, and i doubt the Cats would do it for the reason you said. Its not like Paul is miles better than Deron or Felton....if he is better at all. I could see a Utah trade though with their two picks going to Atlanta or more likely Portland. Utah wants Paul, and they would probably be willing to throw in their 27th pick to move down the 3 spots. If they do feel that the difference between Paul and Felton warrants it. Would Atlanta do it, dunno. They could still grab Felton or possibly Deron with the 6th, and could grab a quality player with the 27th too....but Atlanta is a mystery to me. If Utah wanted to push harder for the deal, they have 3 second round picks they could use for leverage, possibly offering 1 in addition to the 27th, or a combination of 2nd rounders instead. We'll have to wait and see
Why Bussa? That is a great move that they will be doing. They will be getting both picks from the Cats. I think that it is smart we get more rookies.
Trading Down Provided that Milwaukee drafts Bogut trading down makes sense for the Hawks. I say this becasue Marvin, the undisputed #2 if Bogut goes one is not a good fit for the hawks. If they traded down to a team that loves Marvin (charlotte) they could get other picks back in return and still get a good player that fits them (Paul, McCants, Deron).
