Atletico Madrid 4-1 Racing Santander

In a thrilling and eventful clash at the Vicente Calderón, Atlético Madrid came back from a goal down to thump a careless Racing Santander side who had to play a whole hour of the match with just ten men.

Atlético were stunned by an early Tchité penalty but they battled back gallantly and stylishly thanks to two first half goals which ensured they head into the break in the lead.

A Diego Forlán double late in the game sealed a sensational win for the hosts, but the match, littered with dramatic events, was not as straightforward as the scoreline would suggest.
