Attn Members of JBB Visiting this Forum

I've noticed a trend lately...and I don't like it.

This is a TEAM forum, just like any other team forum and lately I've been noticing a string of members from other team forums, comming in here, and posting only to talk negatively about the team and Toronto as a city

This is considered trolling...and is a bannable offence on JBB. I'm sick of it...How would you like it, if I replied to a thread in one of your forums just to say "The sonics suck, and so does Seattle?"

If you have a constructive opinion about the Raptors, then post it. There is nothing wrong with posting an opinion, and having some kind of substance to back it up. That kind of behaviour is encouraged on JBB. However, posting simply "Toronto isn't a real city" isn't going to be tolerated anymore, and your posts will be reported, and could lead to a ban. If you like the board, follow the guidelines, and stick to constructive and intelligent posting, and you'll help to contribute to the community. Otherwise, just leave please.

Well, I don't think everything above is necessarily true because there's a huge difference between trolling and legit negative comments. People should feel comfortable posting negative things about another team as long as they can back themselves up with facts, statistics, etc.

It's the meaningless garbage posts, the ones that are based on biased opinions. Those are the posts that are not needed, and also the ones that will be deleted/get you in trouble.

 

I agree with you and all and I'm not trying to knock on your parade or anything but if you're going to enforce JBB guidelines you could at least follow them yourself.

right...and im not talking about those posts. im talking about "toronto isnt a real city" and things of that nature.

sure...but im sure you can appreciate the difference in gravity between the two "problems". Im sure you would prefer a post that has a couple little grammatical errors, that was constructive and intelligent, versus a post of flaming and ignorance that used a spell/grammar check.

we're on the internet...small mistakes can be expected. For the most part id say I have been a good contributor to jbb

You're right. Without question. But at the same time this is a sticky thread and it would be nice if you just fixed that minor mistake since many members/new members may be reading this thread first when coming to the Raps forum. It doesn't look very credible when an important thread like this has IM language.

^^This is part of the reason people make negative posts on the raptors Forum.

Its not just the visitors fault. Ive never posted any negative meaningless coments in this forum. I think people still think about the way the fans of toronto turned on vince when he left (not sayin that it wasnt his fault). There were alot of vicous thing said about him and i think that people enjoy tormenting the toronto fans because of it. Also Because they are such an easy target.

my comment was directed at dj and shape cause i want to see where they stand on censorship. i personally believe there should be no censorship at jbb at all; maybe the mods could rate each user in terms of content so that it would discredit those that frequent jbb just to agiate.

Obviously that would not be a solution... most non-Raptor fans who post in the Raptor forum post good quality posts, so to ban all-americans from the Raptor forum would be banning a lot of good posters.

There are going to be some Canadians who post garbage posts, so should we ban all Canadians? I think we can only ask people to be considerate and not post hateful uninformed material. Unless it is by Dave Feschuk(Toronto star Arts and Life writer)

 

I would like to say, I made a silly comment the other day about not caring about the Raptors, and that's just stupid on my part. DJ, you make a good point, I greatly dislike it when others come in to the forum I work hard to keep running and then trash the C's because they feel like it. I do care about the Raptors, as much more strongly evidenced by my helping out some fans who can't watch the games. I've enjoyed doing it, and enjoyed watching this young team, much like our's, get up and learn to walk. They're a fun team, and a team that much of a country is attached to, so I have no right to make fun. I appreciate your standing up for your team, and will make sure to eliminate that chatter in the future.

On the other hand, I would also like to say that any other posts I've ever made to this forum have been nothing but constructive and for you to call me out the way did in that thread was uncalled for. I will not start a war with you, but let it be known that I do offer many more positive and useful comments here than I do negative ones. And the spirit of that comment was merely a joking one, but nevertheless, it wasn't called for. Next time, please do a little research before you fly off the handle at me.

Well, not sure exactly what thread you were talkin about or what your comment was. But what I can say for certain is that if I "called you out" then it was not for any previous constructive post or contribution you may have made. It is easy to sit back after the fact and say it was all a joke, but at the time, unless it's made clear, you can be sure that someone will interpret the sentiment differently then what you had initially intended. Let's face it, we're dealing with text here. Sorry if I seemed harsh at the time (again im not sure what was said) but I know that even before this thread, I'v been getting fed up with people making ignorant comments. Fair play if your comment wasnt intended to be one of them, that's my bad then.

Either way, you're only as good as your most recent post here. I can't be asked to investigate the history of every poster that I'm replying to. All I can ask, is try to be clear if you're joking around about something, and it could avoid any confusion
