anyone else see the article on espn which bashed b diddy's shot selection and in particular his tendancy to jack up 3's. It called him the new antoine walker, i forget the link but it was very interesting. i agree that he shoots too many 3's a game (over 9) and the team would be better served if he provided a slightly better shot selection. however, with mash hurt and the current format of the team i believe that he doesn't have much of a choice but to take the brunt of the scoring load for the team and by running the offense through himself. although the team is on a bit of a slide lately i think the b diddy is having a good season even though his fg percentages are at a career low right now(under 40% fg and around 31 or 32% three point) and that the shots will decrease once mash comes back. if someone finds the link then please post it, it was written by peter may i believe.

i've argued the same thing myself. I think he averages around 10 threes attempted per game, and makes about 3 of those. That's really not a bad percentage. People wouldn't criticize him if he took 3 3's a game and made 1 out of 3.

And Antoine Walker's 3 % is considerably worse than Baron. And in Walker's case, he has several teammates who step up every game ready to score, whereas Baron has Wesley, and to a lesser degree Magloire.

Baron's shots will go down significantly when Mash gets back, so he probably won't break the single season record for 3 pt bombs, but right now he's on pace for it. The fact that he's taking this many threes, and shots in general, is amazing in and of itself because of his assist average, which still remains high.

true that, b diddy has much less to work with than 'toine who also has the ugliest looking shot i've ever seen. plus, b diddy has that high assist total as you said which is amazing considering that he doesn't have too much to work with and is forced to take a lot of shots himself. b diddy should start the east all stars!

"Too Easy" - according to Baron in a new article in this month's Slam, seems to be his preferred nickname - so I'll humor him. I'm assuming it's related to Sidney Deane's character in WMCJ. Anyway, Baron is forcing one or two of those shots on a nightly basis, but I don't think it's exactly killing the team. It's well within Tim Floyd's system : he's given the backcourt a green light to fire away - so they do. Like Starman said, when Mash comes back Baron's shots will decrease by at least 3 or 4 shots per game. That'll make the Hornets an even more viable threat in the east, the Pacers and Pistons are going to get a run for their money.

I kind of noticed, but he's like NVE, he'll make alot of them. However it really does jeopardise team victory chances. When Mash returns it'll be great to have another outside shooter and inside force, whom actually attempts to take shots he knows he'll make most of the time.

I wouldn't exactly call Mash an inside force.

Inside presence, and a second scoring option. Without B. Diddy and the injured Mashburn, where would the Hornets be?

he does shoot waaaaay too many 3s...

and 30% shootin on 10 3s a game isnt good at all...

he could easily be takin those 3-point shots as two-pointers if he'd just take a step in or drive to the basket...
