The B.S. Report is half way down the screen on the right. Simmons talks through his rough draft of his annual player value list because all of his planned Superbowl guests canceled. There's a lot of interesting Bulls talk. Boozer, Noah and of course Rose make the list. Simmons is of the position that a Bulls trade for Carmelo involving both Noah and Deng would have been highway robbery, and he alludes that he wouldn't do a trade straight-up between Carmelo and Deng because of the needs of the Bulls. (Simmons also mentions that Deng is only twenty-five years old. I checked, and he's right. How the hell is that possible?) The Basketball Jones podcast crew were also really down on Carmelo Anthony in their allstar predictions podcast from a couple of days ago -- it makes me think that many of us here, including me, may not have noticed some tail off in Carmelo's game that has not gotten past the crew who focus nationally, sans the ESPN crew who love Anthony for drama purposes. Rose is somewhere between three and four on his rough draft with LJ, Durant and possibly Howard being ahead of him. That feels right to me.
Yeah, i'd definitely put him behind all 3 of those. He's nowhere near the force on offense that Dwight is on D. He's not as dynamic as Lebron (maybe one day?), and he's not quite the scorer Durant is.
And perhaps a pipedream, but what's the possibility of us snagging Dwight Howard next offseason? He'll be a free agent and I'd sign and trade any combination short of Derrick Rose for him to come to Chicago. He's worth Noah and Deng. Melo isn't.
Wow! I finally found someone who likes Deng more than me. I gather Simmons doesn't think Deng is "grossly overpaid" then.
