The New York Yankees put Kevin Youkilis on disabled list because of a lumbar spine sprain on Tuesday, adding to the Yankees' long list of injured former All-Stars. Youkilis had missed eight of the past nine games because of what manager Joe Girardi had described as a stiff back. Youkilis played on Saturday, which cost the Yankees the opportunity to back-date his DL stint.
