Are we really planning on having McCollum be our ONLY backup PG? Nolan Smith had more experience playing PG. Our STARTING PG was more productive (and comfortable) playing off the ball last year. I was really hoping we'd sign Shaun Livingston, but: Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine 1 minute ago Hearing Nets closing in on locking up Shaun Livingston for that backup PG spot Maybe there's a Patrick Beverley out there?
Telfair has gotten better. Inconsistent because of his minutes, but I have seen games where he looked pretty decent. Now that the Warriors let JJ go, we need to compete with them for a back up PG as well. I still think Beno is an option
No because he's actually fine with being third string and capable of running an offense. The trade would give us another 3 mil to offer another player.
Until I actually see CJ play PG I really think we need a 2nd string PG not a 3rd string. CJ needs to come off the bench as a SG. He will also be our emergency back up 3rd PG when an injury occurs. I guess we will know more in 2 weeks, but as far as I can tell none of us has ever seen him play PG. Or am I off base on this?
Am I the only one who believes that CJ will eventually be our starting SG? As far as backup PG's go I'd look at Bo McCalebb or Milos Teodosic.
Why don't we at least wait until after the summer league? I want to see what CJ can do before we worry about a backup point guard. It's very possible that CJ could log minutes at both spots. He's definitely smart enough to run the point.
