I am, I realize, not simply a fan of basketball. I need a rooting interest to get engaged in a game. But that's just going to be painful in a year where the Blazers will not be trying to win (or if some of them are, the FO will try to sabotage that). So I need a backup team to care about. If you're in the same boat, what's yours and why? I think in general I will be rooting for the Knicks. Josh Hart is my fave Blazer of recent years and in general I just love the current team ethos. They're super easy to root for. Their only mildly unlikable player was Randle, and while I'm not a fan of KAT's game, he seems like a super-nice person, which adds to the easy-to-root-for factor. I was kind of fan back in the Starks-Mase days (particularly when they went toe-to-toe with the Jordan Bulls) and it's nice to see them relevant again. I mean, I'll still watch far more Blazers games than Knicks games (can't fight the curse), at least until playoff time.
I more than get my basketball fix between my daughters and the game or so per week I'll tune in to for the NBA and WNBA
Since you're talking about the Knicks, I am of course referring to the Marquette Marvel, the one and only Tyler Kolek.
True, but you could also be talking about Jalen Brunson since I was pushing hard for us to draft him when we went with Anfernee.
I don't root for anyone else to win. I do however root for certain teams to lose. And there is a shit load of those teams to keep me interested.
I moved to Massachusetts 3 years ago, so I guess the Celtics. They’re likeable, and play great basketball, I just don’t get super excited about them.
Yeah, although I'm already sick of the Cult of Mazzulla and there's something rather unlikable about Tatum (apart from the fact that he idolizes Kobe). But Payton Pritchard is breaking out - he's going to want a team where he can start soon. I wonder if Cronin got a championship ring for gifting them Jrue for a couple of injury-ravaged players.
I love the local boy Payton, but not all players need to start. (or should start) Injuries will get him some starts, but for the most part, he looks like a good back up to me.
I like OKC. Great roster with a multitude of FRPs to deal. They are going in the right direction. SGA is a pleasure to watch. Chet is a unicorn of sorts. A solid new big and a new tough defensive minded do-all guard in Caruso. The Williams'. Good team.
I'm sure he agrees with you and has no ambitions to play more than a few minutes per game at the end of quarters to make halfcourt heaves.
