If reports of Craig Bellamy's attack on Riise are true, then there's only course of action at the end of the season: sell him. Now, there are also reports of a clearout this summer on Merseyside which I'm not sure of the validity.
What I can reason, though, is that the resurfacing of Bellamy's issues plus a potential cash infusion from the American owners, could give us money to splash in the transfer market. I doubt it will be anything extraordinary, but I think even 30-40 million pounds will be enough.

    Here's my wishlist/shortlist for a worldclass striker:

    1) David Villa - only 25, has great pace, has excelled at each new level he has risen to. Biggest drawback: 100 million buyout clause.
Potential fee: between 20-25 million pounds
    2) Klaas-Jan Huntelaar - 23 year old kid at Ajax who moved for 9 million euros last year. Definitely the top striker in the Eredivisie in my opinion, and has all the tools necessary to succeed at top-flite football (hence the list of clubs trailing him: Liverpool, Newcastle, Juventus, Lyon)
Potential fee: 15 million with add-ons
    3) Miroslav Klose - at 28, maybe a bit older than optimal. However, Klose is heading into the final year of his contract and would command a smaller fee. He's also a prolific finisher, something Liverpool desperately need.
Potential fee: tough to gauge, depends on Bremen's hopes of hanging onto him and the other clubs interested in Klose's signature
    4) Mario Gomez - 21 year-old German international. He has had a tremendous breakout season in Germany with 13 goals to his credit, and is a big reason for Stuttgart's surprisingly strong season.
His signing would be a massive gamble as he could prove to be just a flash in the pan.
    5) Kevin Kuranyi - 24-year-old Schalke 04 striker seems to have gotten his career back on track this year after a miserable season last year. He's been among the goals, is physical and aggressive, and could be well suited to the Premiership.
