QUOTE

What is with the bad officiating every time the Pats play the Colts?
Why do the officials feel they need to help Peyton Manning out with some bogus calls against the Pats every time they play? Could it be that the sponsors have spent a lot of money on Manning and his commercials? Are the NFL and its all-business attitude now letting the sponsors decide which teams should win football games instead of letting it be settled out on the field? Last Sunday's officiating of the Pats vs. Colts game was almost as bad and as blatant as last year's playoff game. Who's cheating now?
If professional officials, who are getting paid good money to officiate a game, call such a horrific game, they should be subject to an investigation and fines. Maybe if they know they can be fined for poor officiating, it will keep them honest. Coaches should have the right to request an inquiry into poorly called games. A committee of impartial officials, coaches, and NFL personal should review that game. If it is found to have questionable calls, they should fine the officials for the first and second offenses and fire them for a third. The old "three strikes, you're out" philosophy. The league should keep an eye on the rest of the Colts games to see if the officiating continues to be bad. If they continue to be bad, then an investigation into the Colts organization should be conducted. If the poor officiating continues, the NFL's reputation should be questioned. Professional sports with the big money dealings can easily become crooked. The more money the NFL makes, the easier it is for sponsors to buy someone out.

Source: Lowell Sun
