Dang, I was close on this one. Predicted UCLA 24 - OSU 17. I'm 3-0 on predicted OSU games (and I think my total points off of actual score is +/- 20). I'm 2-1 predicting Duck games and fairly close there too. Pure stupid luck...not something I plan on continuing... Ok...Beav fans, I have a post regarding Riley over on the Duck board. Respond if you're interested --- tell me I'm dead wrong and stupid, agree, whatever...let's just talk some football. I'm looking for some positives here with the UCLA game. I'm struggling. This UCLA team is NOT good. OSU did equal UCLA in yards and first downs, so that's good. What wasn't was the turnovers, 4th down conver, sacks allowed. I'll never understand Riley. Wheaton and Stevenson were ON - averaging OVER 7 yards per carry on 10 total carries. So what does Riley do? He runs Ward 13 times when Ward wasn't doing jack and averaged 1.9 yards per carry. Riley...are you blind? My gosh...Two of your RB's were getting it done. One wasn't. So, why give the flat one so many more carries. Riley...riley..riley...so classic. RODGERS!!! 5 catches. NICE return. Clearly he isn't the Rodgers of old but if he can keep it up, maybe by season end he'll be near where he was. I'm SO glad Riley didn't have him returning punts/KO's -- but, wouldn't have surprised me at all if he did. Sorry Beavs, this was a not so good UCLA team that lost to Houston and was destroyed by Texas. You've got a decent ASU team (away) coming up and their pass and run O is going to lay 40+. Their defense is only allowing a little over 300 ypg (played Ill and Miss - ranked) where UCLA was giving up nearly 450 ypg. My gosh, my 3 win prediction may have been generous. Come on Riley...get it together....if you don't, you're going to have verbal recruits heading to other schools. GO DUCKS go beavs
I didn't take a lot of positives of it. Maybe the defensive front again for the first half considering the offense let them down again. Special teams did okay, it was good to see Poyer have a good moment after some of his recent defensive miscues. Mannion looked bad for the majority of the game.
I think you said it well...a good "moment", maybe a few...more than that and we're pushing it. OSU's productivity is terrible in the 3'rd/4th. Not much motivation and prep going on at half??
Horrible game. It's looks like Targus will be getting 100 of my hard-earned dollars. Langsdorf is a bad OC. It's good to have James back though.
