Picture this...Maciej Lampe and Sofoklis Schortsanitis both in Laker uniforms. Well, it could've happened. The Lakers could've selected Maciej Lampe, who fell 20+ spots in this year's draft, with the 24th pick. Then, they could've taken Sofoklis with the 32nd.

Instead, Brian Cook was taken with the 24th pick, at which I was furious, then the Lakers took Luke Walton 8 picks later. Luke Walton! I couldn't believe it. I was almost as stunned as I was was Jason Kapono was taken right ahead of him. Cook will be ok I suppose, but how in the hell could Mitch the B**** Kupchak let a Euroleague contract come in the way of adding a potential All-Star to the team. Mark my words...Maciej Lampe will be an All-Star in 5 years. And what could be more perfect than having "Baby Shaq" (Sofoklis Schortsanitis) on the same team as Shaq?

The Lakers future frontline could've been set and they would've had an excellent lineup of young players. However, because of the stupidity and moronic decisions of "The B****", the Lakers ended up having a very disappointing draft. The Lakers should fire Kupchak and hire "Trader Bob", at least if we do that we'll see some new faces and get some deals done.

Walton will be NOTHING in the NBA. Compared to Lampe and Sofoklis, the Lakers had a horrible set of picks.

i haven't seen much of brian cook but its nice to know he's a legit 6'10 guy. as for walton, i like the kid. his bball IQ and intangibles will be a very nice asset to the lakers. also, with TJ Ford going to the bucks, my vision of GP wearing purple and gold seems to be getting clearer and clearer.

    i am stoked!!

Ok, I guess I overreacted a bit. But I'd still like to have gotten Lampe and Sofoklis over Cook and Walton.

this could turn out to be a good thing that they didn't draft lampe, his former team has a contract argument and his season next year is questionable for playing in the nba, the team that drafted him (knicks) took a risk, thats why he fell so much.

i like both picks by the lakers. cook is solid and walton will help us with our lack of depth at the sg/sf spot.

i don't think the lakers want any projects at this point and baby shaq is definately a project.

i think it's also a good sign we didn't draft a pg, this gives me even more reason to believe we are getting payton or jason terry.

a healthy and motivated shaq is all we need to worry about and everything else will fall into place.

You think Lampe will be an all-star in five years? Well in five years there is still a chance he will not be playing in the NBA. I like the Brian Cook pick. I do not like the Walton pick. I don't think Walton will make that great of a pro. He is a good passer, but not a good CREATOR which means that he has to depend on others to get open instead of doing something to get them open. He is pretty slow and more than likely won't be able to rebound well in the league.

Yeah, I definitely would rather have Walton than a PG like Mo Williams.

Walton, or Hollis Price? Don't compare them. Walton would be a much better pro, and is a better fit.

Hollis, is not a PG, he is a shooter. But he is too small, and too one dimensional to play SG in the NBA. He was a good college player, but is not good enough for the NBA right now.

The only reason walton was a second rounder is because he was injured. I thought it was a good draft night for LA.

it certainly was a good draft for LA, since they were looking for players who can contribute right away, not for projects...
Lampe and Sofo are projects, and maybe years away from playing in the NBA, IF they are going to make it...
Cook and Walton can play right away, and are NBA ready.... with the dissapointing performance of the LA role players they needed fresh blood...
