Sura and Dion Gover might be out for the whole season...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In a workout this month, he felt a stabbing pain in his back. Examinations by Dr. Robert Watkins, the surgeon who performed Sura's previous back surgery, uncovered a herniated disk. Today's surgery will be performed by Dr. Barth Green.

Asked if the surgery could keep the 32-year-old guard from coming back this season, Jones said, "We'll see what comes from the surgery. It's possible."

The Rockets also might not get guard/forward Dion Glover back this season. Glover, who injured his right knee on the first day of training camp, had microfracture surgery last week.

Jones said it would be about six weeks before he could estimate when, or if, Glover would be able to play this season.

Alston and T-Mac won't play today....

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rockets forward Tracy McGrady and guard Rafer Alston will be out tonight against the Dallas Mavericks, Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said on Monday.

McGrady also missed Sunday's game against the Pacers with a strained lower back suffered Nov. 4. Alston, who missed a second consecutive game with a sore right leg suffered on the last play of Thursday's game at San Antonio, also sat out.

While McGrady traveled with the team, Alston returned to Houston Monday for a MRI that revealed a hairline fracture small enough that it can be treated as a bruise. The injury will not require that the leg be immobilized, and Alston could play by the end of the week.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DALLAS - The Rockets' hopes that guard Bob Sura could come back from the inactive list to bring the lift he did after last season's similar slow start have grown faint.

Sura, already out after undergoing two offseason knee surgeries, will undergo back surgery today at the University of Miami Medical Center to repair a herniated disk, Rockets trainer Keith Jones said.

Sura missed the first month of last season after suffering a back injury in late September, 2004. He averaged 10.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists, becoming one of just eight NBA players to average at least 10 points with five rebounds and five assists. But his right knee grew worse through the season.

He had his first knee surgery four days after the season ended, but when he failed to respond, a second surgery was performed in October with Sura saying the success of that procedure would determine whether he could ever play again.

In a workout this month, he felt a stabbing pain in his back. Examinations by Dr. Robert Watkins, the surgeon who performed Sura's previous back surgery, uncovered a herniated disk. Today's surgery will be performed by Dr. Barth Green.</div>

Back Surgery Could End Sura's Season

Yea I think Sura's as good as done...does anyone know what Alston's timetable for return is? It's sad to know Sura wont be 100% this year but Head has done a nice job of playing well and in control...

It's not like you'll miss Glover lol. Sura is good, but not that good, and even if he did come back, he wouldn't be effective after the surgery. He'll lose a lot of quickness, and that was his main asset. The Rox are deep though, and Wesley, Head and Alston (when he returns) will make his absence easier to face.

Well sadly, last year we went 15-15 without Sura. He is like one of few players to average 10 pts 5 boards 5 assists I heard, and brings major stat numbers to the box score. He can defend, shoot the 3, rebound, and pass, and plus, he was a team player. We all miss Sura [IMG] . However, I think we can all hug Carroll Dawson (as if it was the time where hugs are necessary) for getting Head from the draft, I mean who thought of getting him other than good ol' CD? Come back Sura, we not only miss you, we need you, I'm sure you're grimacing from the sidelines now.

Nah, Sura was pretty much the slowest Rockets guard last season. His main asset was actually his size, which allowed him to see over defenders and post them up. He can also get to the rim and draw fouls, but a pick would be needed, because he can't beat most guys off the dribble.
