<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CLAXTON OUT; VAN EXEL TO FOLLOW By the time they took the floor against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, the Warriors had already suffered one loss, and learned of an impending one. But they responded with a determined effort against one of the NBA's best teams, playing Minnesota close before finishing with a 91-81 loss. The day's worst news, however, was Speedy Claxton being diagnosed with a right-hand fracture, which will sideline the ever-more-integral point guard for at least three weeks. Compounding that was the announcement by Nick Van Exel, Claxton's backup, that he probably will undergo season-ending surgery next week on his left knee. ``We're used to the injuries,'' said Van Exel, who has been a shell of himself for much of his time with the Warriors. ``All season long, it's the same thing: injuries, injuries, injuries. When someone gets injured we usually play harder. ``We feel confident about what's in this locker room. But injuries are kicking our butts.''</div> http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...ors/8064833.htm -=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=--==-=-=-=-=-= Could this season get any worse for the Warriors? I have not seen a team plagued with as many injuries as the Warriors in a long time. Both Claxton and NVE out? Is Avery going to become our starter? This long season has just became longer for the Warriors...
But did that team have the promise that this team has? I was looking foward to this season like no other and I have been greatly disappointed by all of these injuries.
At least you have dampier for the rest of the season. He is a monster on the boards. Of course barring another injury lol..
It really doesn't matter if we have Damp or not at this point. Without a PG to run the team, the Warriors will even look more lost than before.
Maybe this is fate. A bad season so the Warriors can get a better chance at a high pick in this talented rich 2004 draft. Man I wish we had at least 3 number 1 picks this year. I think this is how good it is if all the hot candidates enter their names in the draft this year. We could potentially get a good 4, 3 and a 1. Man this is so sad that I'm talking about the draft already and its not even March. That's the warriors for you.
That would be sweet if we could get a decent pick this year. I would not mind falling into a pick like Amare was a few years ago. Virtual unknown, suns get lucky and get an all star pf. That would be sweet.
The only problem is the fear of the warriors drafting for need rather than who is the best player on that list that will lead a franchise like a Jason Kidd or a Kevin Garnett. Somebody that makes people better because of the difference they make in all aspects of the individual and team game. I mean Okafor seems awesome, but is there a guy that can dominate in both size, scoring and defense? That's what the warriors need. That and also a playmaker point guard that we can keep for years to come. I wouldn't mind dropping Dunleavy too while we're at it. Get Josh Smith or somebody that's not Dunleavy.
The problem is at the position in the draft the Warriors will hold, there are not likely to be any franchise type players. By that time you pretty much have to get lucky. I think St. Jean and company are better evaluating talent at the 2nd tier level as opposed to top tier talent. That is why he was able to find Arenas, Murphy, Welsch, but bombed on Dunleavy, Jamison, ect.

I suggest trading down when the draft comes.
Man what the hell do we do now in terms of point guard depth? We have one healthy point guard who's retiring after this year probably. Damnit we need Pepe Sanchez back.

Wow, it can't get any worse for the Warriors right about now. I suggest they go sign a PG off free agency, Avery Johnson will definetley not get the job done. It's been a sad year for the Warriors...... Easily could have been playoff contenders if everything fell in the right place, and being injury free, to a lottery pick. At least they'll be better next year....Oh wait, how long have we been saying that?
I say try to do something with Avery Johnson, otherwise there's always good players in the free-agent market at this time of the season. Maybe the Warriors can get a steal.
