NEW YORK -- Ricky Romero quieted the Yankees' bats and Travis Snider hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the fourth inning to help the Blue Jays win a second successive game in the Bronx, 8-2, on Tuesday. The loss was New York's third in a row, and the Rays' 6-4 win over the Twins gave Tampa Bay sole possession of first place in the American League East.

Snider's shot into the right-field bullpen off Dustin Moseley culminated a quick-strike, two-out rally for Toronto in the fourth. Within the span of four pitches, Aaron Hill was hit by a pitch, John Buck drove him in with a double and Snider clubbed his seventh homer of the season.

The Yankees had built an early 2-0 lead for the second consecutive night in the first inning on a two-run homer. On Monday, it was Nick Swisher; on Tuesday, Mark Teixeira retook the team lead with his 23rd long ball of the season off Romero -- an absolute moon shot into the bleachers in left field.

After that, however, Romero settled in, retiring the next 11 hitters he faced. A Marcus Thames infield single in the fifth ended that streak, but the Yankees couldn't muster any kind of threat after falling behind.

Moseley was solid aside from that four-pitch stretch in the fourth. With the Blue Jays swinging early and often, Moseley finished 7 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits.

Romero retired 26 of the final 27 batters he faced without allowing a runner to reach scoring position after Teixeira's homer.
