http://www.nypost.com/sports/giants/28015.htm<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>September 12, 2005 -- How is it possible that the Giants piled on 42 points against the Cardinals yesterday, yet Eli Manning could state "That performance is not OK by me . . . I got to play better," afterwards? How is it possible that the Giants could register their highest point total in a season opener in 34 years, yet the most prolific receiver in franchise history, Amani Toomer, would be shut out and their main weapon, Tiki Barber, could say "I feel like I didn't play at all in the second half," afterwards? It was possible because the depth and balance the Giants insist will carry them further than the meager expectations heaped upon them surfaced at all the right moments in yesterday's 42-19 thrashing of the Cardinals at Giants Stadium. "Today was probably the best team effort you are going to get for opening day," linebacker Antonio Pierce said. The fingerprints of so many Giants were all over this one. Pierce, in his Giants debut, had 11 tackles. Nearly everyone the Giants consider to be a playmaker did just that, with Jeremy Shockey, Barber and Plaxico Burress scoring touchdowns. Nearly everyone the Giants consider to be a difference-maker on defense ? Michael Strahan (11/2 sacks), Pierce, Gibril Wilson ? made a difference. And the special teams they feel are vastly improved chimed in with touchdowns on Willie Ponder's 95-yard kickoff return and newly-signed Chad Morton's 52-yard punt return. The Giants scored 35 points in the second half, allowing Manning (10 of 23, 172 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs) to shake off a poor first half and direct a more efficient offense after halftime. He looked rusty, but showed no ill effects from the sprained right elbow that kept him out of the final two preseason games. Trailing 13-7 at halftime, the Giants surged ahead with a flurry of points in the third quarter, incredibly scoring touchdowns on three consecutive plays in a span of 5:28. Tellingly, Manning attempted and completed only one pass in the 21-point blitz, triggering the barrage with a 44-yard strike to Burress. "The whole momentum of the game switched right there," Manning said. A five-yard scoring run by rookie Brandon Jacobs put the Giants ahead 14-13. After Wilson intercepted a Kurt Warner pass and returned it 17 yards to the Cardinals 21-yard line, Barber, on the first play, burst through the middle for a 21-yard TD run. Warner then hit Larry Fitzgerald ? who had a spectacular game with 13 catches ? on a 1-yard TD flip to pull the Cardinals within 21-19. On the ensuing kickoff, Ponder cut to his left and sprinted untouched for a 95-yard touchdown and a 28-19 Giants lead. In his best moment, Manning rolled to his right and fired a 13-yard scoring strike to Burress early in the fourth quarter to seal the deal, providing the Giants with a 16-point lead. "Two of the three sides of the ball we played great," Manning said. "We got to pick it up on offense." The seeds of this victory might have been laid on Saturday night, when Coughlin's entire motivational speech centered on the fact that the game was being played on Sept. 11, the fourth anniversary of the terrorist attacks. "I'll just say this," Coughlin said. "There's no way we were gonna lose at home on this date for this great city and these great people. There was no way. "We talked about this great city, we talked about 9/11, we talked about the red, white and blue. We talked about representing our city with pride on this day." Barber (13-62) liked the way the Giants shrugged off adversity to win in a rout. "It wasn't always easy, just like it never is easy in New York," Barber said. "It's an odd parallel to draw and something that is probably not too appropriate, but we believe that we played for the city today."</div>

Actually it is surprising...sorta. The Cards aren't too far behind from the Giants. Why do you make 3 threads for this game? Just post this in the other thread you made. No wonder you have so many posts...All the threads you start have 1 or less posts...

I leave the game threads for strictly in-game talk and after-thoughts. Then the next day, I make threads for articles, instead of packing them all into one thread. And what do you mean "no wonder why I have so many posts"? Even if I posted all these articles in the game threads, I would still get the posts for it, so it wouldn't matter..

I meant their kind of useless because most of the threads you start get 0 replies. It would be better if you had to say something you keep it in 1 or 2 threads... I just think that looks better. And there isn't much difference in both of your articles...
