I have a question for you guys. On the SaintsReport.com forums people have been discussing in threads about D. McAllister not being that big of an issue to keep around. Now to me i think they're all off their f*cking rockers. The kid is only 25-26 he was injured last year and had a shitty line and a OC that didn't know how to use him. A year ago, half these people were fighting for a position on his left nut.(hints: bandwagoners) I personally think the Saints need to let him finish out next year, if he doesn't hold out, and then franchise his ass. If he holds out, give him what he wants. The Saints have $14.4 million to play with during this offseason and i know Horn and maybe Howard are the only ones that they need to worry about, and Howard is franchised so that shouldn't be that big of an issue. Other then signing a OT, LB and S they need to worry about keeping Deuce here for a while. With a new OC and hopefully some new help up front, i doubt a defense will want to go up against D. McAllister. He's a threat to all defenses, especially when A. Brooks and gang are on fire. I don't know about the other people down here in New Orleans, but i think Deuce is one of the biggest priorities this offseason. THOUGHTS????????
Well, i would natrually be concerned about the injury, so i think you have to take a wait and see approach this season. If he plays well then sign him to the big deal, if not then let him go.
I agree with BearsFan1. You don't sign a guy coming off an injury to a long term deal...especially not a running back. Let him do what Rudi Johnson did...play his ass off in the final year of his contract in the hopes that he'll be able to cash in.
I agree. He's only 25-26, but yet he's already 25-26. RBs get iffy, if not done, by 30. Let him play this season as is. If he performs outstanding, franchise him for a year. After that, he would be pushing 28 and may not be worth a huge, long-term contract. I imagine he would sign a reasonable offer once the tag was placed on him. If he doesn't respond with a big year, you will either get him at a fair value or you will have to move on. Normally, this would be ideal timing for a 4 year contract, but with the injury, its not worth the risk.
he has so much potential he did great two years ago. hes an injury risk though. i agree with everyone else, lets see how he does this year before worrying about his contract. hey they let Brees play his final year and look wat happened. hes a great talent at rb though
