    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">#1 ? Baron Davis
Over the course of his career, Davis has missed 34 percent of his free throws and more than 59 percent of his field goals. Blame impatience and lack of concentration for the former, and a penchant for forcing shots for the latter.

Davis' numerous ill-advised shots are symptomatic of his selfishness, carelessness and habit of playing out of control. Because he's overly concerned with his passes being highlighted on the evening news, Davis inevitably chooses to risk spectacular passes when simpler ones are in order. He's so focused on scoring that he'll assault the offensive boards with no regard to maintaining court balance ? thereby leaving his team vulnerable to fast breaks.

Davis is also surprisingly ineffective in screen/roll situations at both ends of the court. On offense, he'll try to split any resultant double-teams, and on defense, he's simply too passive. Intelligent defense (pressure and containment) can force him into turnovers.

For the past few seasons, Davis lobbied to be traded because the Hornets were consistently an underachieving ball club. If he had looked in the mirror, Davis would have seen a big reason why this was so.</div>

I disgaree with this article. While it speaks the truth when concerning his stats, still, the Warriors played so much better with him on the squad towards the end of the season last year. This year I expect B. Diddy to improve on all aspects of his game. I don't mind fancy passes because they are unpredictable from a defensive standpoint.

Baron Davis is an excellent player and deserves alot of credit. He is not over-rated IMO.

    this is bogus

I read the article that had this.

    Two problems with it:

    1) Pau Gasol is the 7th most overrated player in the league. Yeah, RIGHT. That's why Jerry West has kept him and given him a big contract while trading out all those other cats. As far as calling him soft, how hard can you play when you have a skinnier frame like that. you'd be dumb to play hard in the post with that frame -- you would get Injured. He also plays less minutes than the Garnetts and Nowitzki players that's why his stats are less. Not to mention he's been surrounded by guys who want to score. He may have his flaws but he's not the 7th most overrated guy in the league.

    2) RJ is overrated too?

"If Richard Jefferson played in Toronto, Memphis, or anywhere outside of the New York area, he'd be considered just another all-jump-no-shot performer."

What are you talking about Rosen? Richard Jefferson is not on the New York celebrity landscape by ANY stretch of the imagination. Most people on the streets of new york would have no idea who he is. new jersey is just as far from nyc as philly is in terms of basketball. RJ put the team on his back when they lacked their other stars and then when they got Vince, he went back to being one of the options without sulking. This guy is a consummate professional not to mention a hell of an entertaining player. Rosen you're out of your mind.

In the West? I seriously doubt it.

Yeah, my lists are overly simplified, because 04-05 Hornets are destined to be horrible with all those loss of talents and injuries. But, I was just ticked off of the article saying that Hornets were constantly underachiving because of Davis...

Elton Brand overrated? [IMG] This Rosen guy is very hit or miss, historically, and this particular article is a whiff.

I disagree. The Western Conference is a little bit tougher now that the Hornets moved into it (schedule, talent, size, etc). Monster Mash isn't all what he used to be and Magloire is not really a true all-star center in terms of what the West has to offer in terms of forwards/centers and the number of good teams it has.

But Baron is still a franchise player. He makes everyone better. Thanks for the article even though Rosen is full of crap.

B.D. probably laughed at this. If he's overrated he sure knows how to win ballgames and make his team alot better. B.D. will prove this guy wrong. Just a thought.

BDiddy knows he's got a chip on his shoulder. He left New Orleans on bad terms and that hurt his image in the league. Some people think he's got an attitude problem, but the fact of the matter was he wasn't happy where he was and he wanted things to change for himself. I think he's got a lot to prove.

I found this funny too because Jefferson actually learnt how to shoot fairly well now.

About Baron, what he fails to add is how Baron can carry a team, and make teammates better. As a fan of the guy, I've been quite critical of his shot selection, and I will continue to be, but I know he can definately lead and carry a team, and also make the players around him better. He's also quite good defensively, even with the whole pick and roll thing.

This guy obviously hasn't watched any of Baron's games. Stats never tell the entire story.
