Kansas director of basketball operations and former Missouri State coach Barry Hinson has agreed to become Southern Illinois' new coach, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation. Hinson replaces Chris Lowery, who was fired on March 2 after eight seasons. Southern Illinois reached the NCAA tournament six consecutive seasons from 2002-2007, but the Salukis haven't been back since then. Southern Illinois went 8-23 this past season.
