Everyone here has played b-ball at one point or another, so I say we should all post our bios of either our careers in leagues or pickup games, as well as past records and other interesting facts about yourselves. :dribble: This is not to see who is better than who, it's a chance to share our b-ball experiences with one another. We got a lot of people from all over the place and it's interesting to hear stories. Sounds like a good idea right? :happy0144: Who wants to start? It doesn't have to be long.

I'll start-I've been playing basketball since I was 2-I fell in love with the NBA in 2003 because the Pacers won 62 gamesI'm a sg/sf/pf. I am a little wheighty but I can jump really high (about 30 inches (I'm 14)). I can shoot very well and I can block shots and rebound over people 6 inches taller than me easily.-I am mostly a passer and rebounder as well as a defender- I pass up many open shots beacuse I'd rather get the assist but when I shoot it usually goes in- I played for my school team (with that Pacers fan forever guy) and we won the title of our league- I'm 5'8"

I'm going to go to a high school with 60 per grade. So, it's small - but it always has a good team. The two best players on the team are guys who were recognized in the state basketball teams and they're onlyjunoirs so I'm excited about the prospects of the team next year. I don't think I'll make varsity but maybe junior varsity. I dunno. Anyway - it should be a great experience 'cause I'll get some good playing time against players 2-3 years older than me while representing the team. Plus all the playes practive together so I'll be going against the two good junoirs in practice. As you can probably tell - one of the main reasons I chose this high school was because of basketball.

I started playing b-ball back in '98, which was right around the time I started liking the Hornets. I moved up a division in my league and played three years for a different team. We were like 16-1 in my first two years with that team, but I didn't score a single point because I was about eight or nine years old and I sucked [IMG]. My final year in that division I got more playing time because the good guys moved up and I was one of the new leaders, and we went 3-6 in my final year. I thought I sucked for a long time and skipped two years in the oldest division but I decided to play the last possible year I could. I ended up dominating and broke out into an All-Star. It wasn't much of an honor because the league sucked :dribble: . It has been two years scince I've played my last game, and I've been thinking about trying out for my varsity team next year. I almost did this year but lost interest. I have potential to be a pretty decent player, but I don't take it as seriously as others. I like to watch the great ones play. That is basically my b-ball career. I guess my career record in my league would be like 20-18 and averaging like 6 and 12 a game. :dunno: Not impressive at all, but I love to play for fun on the streets, there's no pressure which is funner. :dribble:

I started playing in 2002, I think, for my school. I sort of got talked into it by all of my friends who thought that I could be pretty good because I was pretty tall at the time, but I really sucked my first year and a half. I am so happy I started, because basketball is my favorite thing now. Ever since I was in 7th grade, a bunch of kids and myself would go up to town and play on a court. I have been doing that on and off during the school year, and almost everyday in the summer. (If I'm not playin with my friends, I play at my little backyard court everyday. My team really sucked in school and never won a game while I was playing. My freshman year in high school I got Mono, which can last for a year and the side effects can last long after that, and was out all year. I sat out this year (I'm a sophomore) because I didn't think that I was completely healthy, so I didn't want to push things. I am def. goin to play next year and when I am a senior. :dribble:My natural position is sf.My strengths are shooting and rebounding, a decent passer, and am getting better at dribbling.I am 6'.My goal for the end of summer is to be able to dunk.

Well I started playing basketball around 2003-2004. I've been watching ball since before then but wasn't really up on playing it since not much people did back then. I had a friend that got me to play and that's all I've been doing ever since. I played in the middle-school tourneys. I was one of the best lil ballers at that school till last year wen I entered HS. Didn't play ball for the school last year because I missed all the trials.. [IMG] . Since I missed the team, I started visiting a whole bunch of blacktop courts (too poor to play indoor..) and that's when my game kinda changed. Now im a lil more streetball oriented (not the rolling on the ground, bounce the ball off your head 3 times streetball). Before my game was mostly based on defense and mid-range jumpers, but I honed sum of my PG skills so now im known for my handle and passing (kinda). :dribble: This year I tried out for the school U15 team and made it, most likely as a starting guard or 6th man.Position: Shooting GuardStrengths: Ball-Handling, Mid-range shooting, Driving. :dribble: Weakness: Long-range shooting, Accurate passing, and man-to-man Defense. :thumbdn1:

I started playing basketball in 2002, well around then and I was about 11 years old .. I had never played basketball at all before that and never watched a game but from the time I started playing it, I never ever once stoped since. I play, watch, study the game of basketball everyday and my ultimate goal is to play professional basketball one day and I seriosly believe I can because I can do some things on the court that only gifted people could think of doing. In 05/06 I helped my school basketball team win the state championship, which was fun being the best team in the state. Last year I didn't sign up for the high school basketball championships because of knee injuries. This year has been extremly hard for me because I have had a back injury that kept me out for 2-3 months and is starting to really heal up now and I have to try get back into shape.I play the guard positions, im a great ballhandler, passer and I can post up taller players a lot, I can also shot the ball very well when im healthy. What im the best at would have to be my defense, im a in your face defender which makes it very hard for you to score against me, my weakness would have to be my footwork on offense and using my left hand.. im just plain terrible at those 2 main things which I need to work on. I didn't sign up for a basketball team outside school in which I would of being playing under 17's this season, so il have some extra time to study and concentrate more on school basketball. I also averaged about 17ppg last year.

Age 6: First saw space jam, and in turn bought a fake basketball which I would play catch with outside.Age 7: My mother bought me a small Fisher Price basketball hoop which was stored in my basement. I primarily used a soccer ball, and due to my height, was able to practice on the net with great success. Even in my latter years, the space my basement gave me was a major factor in my improved dribbling. I'd be in high school dribbling around my basement, and slamming that soccer ball home.Age 10: Played basketball for the first time in a league.Age 12: Got interested in the NBA, moved to a school where people loved basketball, and in turn began playing everyday as well as working on my game alone on the local playground.Age 12: Just months after basketball became my favorite thing to do / watch, I tried out and made my first "city" team (AAU as Americans call it). That year, I was really worried about not doing well and didn't get much time. The experience was great though, as it gave me an understanding of help defense and showed me what level to aspire for.Age 13: Another few months later, I played for my school team, and even though I got virtually no playing time, my coach taught me not to be a pussy. He yelled at me and challenged me, in the end helping me more than any coach I've ever had.Age 13: 2nd year of AAU. Became a permanent starter at PG after a summer of immense playing. Inconsistent year, although I had several breakout games, including a crown jewel where I had 15 points on 6/6 shooting, a three, and two free throws to go along with upwards of 8 assists in just 25 minutes.Age 13: Playing more than I ever had, and with much confidence, I went to try out for the regional team, where I was cut for the first time in my life. I was furious, not totally motivated or anything, but angry. Age 14: Playing for my school team, I was co-captain and led my basketball squad to the finals, where we lost to the favorite. This was my first year of confidence and experience as a leader.Age 15: Played for my high school team, coming off the bench to play at the 2. I finished all games, and for that, earned the overall 9th Grade Athlete of the Year in a class of about 200. That was unexpected.Age 15: Played for the AAU team, starter and co-captain, and had my best year ever. In the provincial tournament, my team got third, and I won MVP. In my final two tournament run, I averaged upwards of 12 - 15 PPG and 10 APG, to go along with 4 SPG. Then I broke my collar bone, lost interest, moved, and everything went downhill.

Well this is meGrew up in a big sports family, 2 of my uncles went on scholarships to play ball in college. My cousin who I lived with was an avid fan of basketball, he was the person who really showed me to love the game.I've been playing ball for as long as I can remember but started taking it serious around the age of 10. I started watching ball though when I was around 6 or 7 years old, My cousin was a HUGE Mavericks fan and he got me into it and since then that's all I have been, a huge Mavs fan.Well anyways, I always played when my cousin had practice for leagues and I had a friend who I'd always go one on one with and he was pretty good at the time so we made each other better, I was around 9 or 10 at this time. Then the next year I got my friends together and we decided to make a team, it was great, made us all better. We played in our first game when I was 11, I remember that game because I was the center even though I'm not tall, but taller than the other kids my age. I would always get yelled at by my coach for shooting long range shots, I won't say I was amazing at it because I wasn't, but I shot it at a good clip for my age.. I was the center, the distraction my coach would call me, get the double teams and pass out for some one open. I wasn't happy with that because I knew what I could do, and the last game of the season, I went on fire. I had what seemed like 40 points but really just 16.When I turned 12 I moved to a new school, alot of kids I didn't know and the way to earn your name was on the court, well I earned it after months... The next year, my first year of Middle School, I didn't make the team, I was devastated and pissed off, but I couldn't blame my coach for it THAT year because I was always sick or injured. That summer I broke my collar bone, tore a tendon, and alot of injuries to my shoulder in a basketball camp fading away on a game winning shot... I think I've posted about it before on this site, but none the less I was out for 6 weeks and didnt get to play even outside. This year, my second year. I didn't make it again. I was pissed off in a determined way. 8 A-Team linemen from football made the team, I was better than all of them and players on the team complained to the coach on why I didn't make the team, he never gave a reason but with the constant barrages of complaints he made me a manager, and I got to practice, just not play games. Every practice I would show him why I should be on the team and why those 8 A-Team linemen shouldn't. I was good enough to play on B-Team or maybe even A-Team for basketball. Finally the season was ending and we were playing a new school who sucked, it was a branch off of our school so the managers got to play.I showed my coach up, in 6 minutes (1 quarter) I had 3 points (fade away 3 pointer, got fouled but no call) 4 rebounds (2 offensive), 2 assists, 2 hustle points (taking charges, diving for the ball etc.) and no fouls. This year I am determined to make the basketball team next year in high school, I'm a bit weighty but I am determined to get in shape this summer and play next year.
