His defense has been massively underwhelming this year, but 5 worst?

Hell I don't think anybody that has a block on Lebron like he has should ever be 5 worst. That should have got him off the board alone.

Maybe he has just watched batum this year. Take away his blocks and his defense sucks this year.

I think his on ball defense has been bad this year. Help and switching he's pretty good, but on the ball he's been beat a lot.

There aren't too many players in this league that can do a good job of guarding Chris Paul one night, Tony Parker, then Dirk the next. Not even going to click on that link cause this is a joke.

I do think it is ridiculous to put him bottom 5, but I don't agree with you on him guarding PG. He really hasn't done a good job on PG this year except for a few posessions.

I'm sorry, my example was of a road trip last year when during a tight game, Nate put him on CP3 down the stretch and then he locked down Dirk 4 straight trips. He has the ability to guard 4 positions, flat out. There aren't too many guys in the league with that ability.

    Key words...

    Last year

But cmon man... Batum has had a rough year. Now it's coming to a head. Good thing la, Rudy and Wes killed it during that cause batum was absolute garbage.

I do remember him locking down PG during the past few years. This year though I can't even get one to come to mind. I don't know what it is, but it seems to me that Batum is having motivational issues this year. Maybe the whole fact that Wesley came on board and now takes many of the assignments he used to get?

I think this is an important question. Nic needs a purpose, a role, a task. He's being dissed for not providing more this year, but what is his role on the team? He's the forgotten man.

He does look forgotten. He also looks lost out there a lost right now which has me concerned. I think part of it is they don't run any plays for him. But at the same time, when the team was trying that earlier in the season, he wasn't handling the responbility that well.

Nobody is making excuses, they are discussing ways to get the player more involved in order to improve the team. Is there a problem with that? The facts are he is the only SF on the team outside of Babbit and if we don't start getting some production from the SF position, the team is going to be easy to shut down the rest of the way.

The question is why are you bothering to watch.

After all, the season ended weeks ago.

Also, one of the main reason I wouldn't believe that Nic is one of the 5 worst defenders is that you agree.

I just believe the opposite of what you do and I am correct a great deal of the time.

He's defintely regressed this year on defense and offense. Makes me wonder how much of an impact Monty really had on him.

... or... how much of an impact the the pressure on perimeter defense that Roy put was to his benefit, at least on offense.

I'm just pointing out how so many excuses are made for guys who are average like outlaw, Webster, etc and now batum. Get what you can for batum now. He's nothing special.

It's clearly Nate McMillan's mind games.
