<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Asked how Tommie Harris stacks up against other defensive linemen he has been around, Bears coach Lovie Smith referenced former NFL defensive player of the year Warren Sapp and one of his favorites from St. Louis, Leonard Little.Smith added that the third-year pro could be mentioned one day among the all-time greats to play the position. He's well on his way to serious accolades this season as he was named the NFC's defensive player of the week for the second time in four weeks Wednesday.Harris sacked Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck twice in the Bears' 37-6 victory Sunday and forced at least one other sack when he ran Hasselbeck straight into the bear hug of rookie Mark Anderson.''[He]has a chance to be talked about with the other great defensive linemen that have played the game,'' Smith said.Harris was named player of the week after his other two-sack effort in Week 2 against Detroit.''It's just another honor,'' Harris said. ''I'll talk to you guys when I'm in Miami [for the Super Bowl].''NOT SO FINE: Defensive end Alex Brown said he is appealing a $7,500 fine levied against him for a horse-collar tackle of Minnesota Vikings running back Mewelde Moore in Week 3.Brown was penalized 15 yards for the play but does not believe what he did constituted a flag or fine. He was chasing Moore from behind and had his left arm around Moore's waist with his right hand on the back of the jersey. They ran together for four yards before Moore came down.If that's not legal, you have to wonder how the league expects linemen to make plays on the move. It certainly wasn't a violent act like when Dallas' Roy Williams tackled Terrell Owens two years ago, the play that brought the rule into effect in the first place.''The rule says immediately, and I don't think I pulled him down immediately,'' Brown said. ''I'm not sure if what I did, as far as what the rule says, is actually illegal. We went four yards.''Working in Brown's favor is the fact he does not have a history of dangerous play. This is the first time the league has fined him.HEALTH BEAT: Defensive end Adewale Ogunleye is listed as questionable for Sunday with a pulled hamstring. He was held out of practice Wednesday, but Smith seemed to reveal that he expects Ogunleye to start when asked about a potential replacement.''I'm definitely hoping,'' Smith said. ''I think Wale will be able to go this week.''If Ogunleye misses time, he will be spelled by Israel Idonije, whom the Buffalo Bills made wealthy with a four-year, $7.5 million offer sheet in the offseason. He said it's just another game facing his would-be teammates.''I'll get in there to knock some heads and say, 'Thank you,''' Idonije said. ''They put me in a great position. I'm glad to be a Bear.''Tight end Desmond Clark (left foot), linebacker Leon Joe (right hamstring) and wide receiver Mark Bradley (ankle) also are questionable and were held out of practice. Barring a setback, Clark is expected to play, as he did last week. Joe is expected to be spelled on special teams by safety Chris Harris. For the Bills, right guard Chris Villarrial (ankle, doubtful), strong-side linebacker Takeo Spikes (hamstring, questionable), strong safety Matt Bowen (shin, questionable) and tight end Robert Royal (ankle, questionable) were held out of practice.ROAD TO RECOVERY: Rookie linebacker Jamar Williams had surgery Friday to repair a torn tendon in his left pectoral muscle. It's a similar injury to what fullback Jason McKie had before last season, and recovery is expected to take four months. Williams was hurt when his arm was pinned in the pile after a third-quarter kickoff at Minnesota.''I felt like I was coming on,'' said Williams, who had emerged as a strong special-teams contributor. ''This is the first time I have ever been hurt, so that's what is so hard to go through.''</div>http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...earnt05.article
