<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Usually the campaigning for postseason awards cranks up at midseason as the playoff picture starts to take focus. The Bears aren't waiting to begin stating the case for defensive tackle Tommie Harris, who went to his first Pro Bowl last season and has taken the first four opponents by storm, being named the NFC's defensive player of the week twice already.Just 23, Harris is part of a dominating line that hasn't left a ton for the linebackers to do. He is tied for the league lead with five sacks, forced a fumble at Minnesota that allowed the Bears to win with less than two minutes to play and has a team-high four quarterback hits.''There's nobody in this league playing better right now,'' said Brian Urlacher, last season's NFL defensive player of the year who threw his teammate a full endorsement. ''They have to double him every play, or he's going to make the play. Even when they double him, he makes the play. So he frees guys up, not only [linebackers]but other D-linemen. He's just doing a lot of good things for us.''Defensive end Adewale Ogunleye concurred.''He's playing phenomenal,'' Ogunleye said. ''I said when I first came to Chicago and I saw the athletic ability he had, it was a matter of time before he took over.''TD DROUGHT: Cedric Benson's next carry will be the 100th of his career, and he has yet to reach the end zone, a fact not lost on him. Benson had carries inside the 10-yard line against New Orleans and San Francisco last season, the closest he has come.A workhorse in college who scored 64 touchdowns -- one every 17.4 carries -- Benson figures any goal-line touches will go to starter Thomas Jones.''I have been looking forward to getting a touchdown sometime soon,'' he said. ''But if I do get it, it's got to be on a long run because I don't know if I am going to get any goal-line snaps.''It doesn't have to be long, but I'll have to break a run to score. I know that stuff will come.''HEALTH BEAT: Ogunleye (hamstring, questionable) remained sidelined at practice Thursday but is expected to start Sunday. A leg injury is the last thing he wants because he relies on explosiveness and quickness to get around the corner. He would be facing Buffalo right tackle Jason Peters, a converted college tight end who is the Bills' best lineman.''If it's totally left up to me, there's not even a question I'll be out there,'' Ogunleye said. ''I've got to get up that edge, and I don't want to handicap this pass rush that we have right now.''If his situation worsens and he is forced out, Israel Idonije is expected to start with rookie Mark Anderson and Alfonso Boone also getting an opportunity.Linebacker Leon Joe (right hamstring, questionable), wide receiver Mark Bradley (ankle, questionable) and tight end Desmond Clark (left foot, questionable) also remained out. Punter Brad Maynard (ill, probable) missed practice but is expected to be fine. The only change in the Bills' report was that tight end Robert Royal (ankle, questionable) returned to practice.TWO-TIMING IT: Harris isn't the only player to win the same award twice. Quarterback Rex Grossman earned the FedEx Air player of the week honor for the second time for his 232-yard effort with two touchdown passes in the 37-6 rout of Seattle.</div>http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...earnt06.article
