Carolina released Moose not just because of the cap hit, although it is the main reason...Smith is the #1 WR and would be making less money this year than Moose...also, Colbert (as well as Proehl) did a really good job of not allowing defenses to focus solely on Moose, and will do the same for Smith next year, so receiving corp should still be very productive, and for longer

Bears signing Moose is more than about receiving...he is one of the best blocking WR's in the league...at 6'2", 220 lbs., he overpowers opposing secondaries in the running game as well as the passing game...Panthers 6th string running back ran for 821 yards in only 6-7 games last year...Moose was a key to that...as for speed, he holds the record for longest touchdown from scrimmage in the Super Bowl of 85 yds...fast enough for me

He will be missed, though, by Panther fans, and Jake Delhomme

Ahem...that 85 yarder had nothing to do with speed...it was a broken play and he got behind the defense and then a stiff arm/torn groin allowed him to go all the way....the moose is no burner.

You sound a little bitter about how badly that WR corps torched your secondary in the second half of that game. You did win, no need to bitter, it us runners ups who are bitter. mumbles under breath steal my FF title i will teach you a lesson . . .

The point was that he was able to go 85 yards for a TD against the toughest competition in the biggest game of the year...his strength, previously mentioned regarding run blocking, is another key factor of his being a very good WR...
