<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Bears on Monday signed valuable backup offensive lineman Roberto Garza to a six-year contract extension through 2011. Roberto Garza played in all 16 games with seven starts for the Bears this season. The five-year veteran played in all 16 games this season, starting four games at left guard and three at right guard. Garza initially signed a one-year deal with the Bears in March after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. "I'm excited about the opportunity to be a part of the organization," Garza said Monday. "A long-term deal is something that my wife and I have been looking forward to and now we can make Chicago our home." Garza was part of an offensive line that helped lead the Bears to just their second division title in 15 seasons while opening holes for Thomas Jones, whose 1,335 yards rushing were the most by a Chicago running back since Walter Payton had 1,551 yards in the 1985 Super Bowl season. "The excitement of being with a young up-and-coming team and being part of this offensive line was a big part of my decision to stay here," Garza said. With right guard Terrence Metcalf spraining his knee in Sunday's 34-10 loss in Minnesota, there's a chance that Garza could start the Bears' playoff game Jan. 14 or 15 at Soldier Field.</div>http://www.chicagobears.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=13451
He seemed like a strong young talent in Atlanta, solid move for the Bears who have a nice, deep offense line.
