the most attractive traitor in recent memory....there something so seductive about a hot chick that you know could take you to the hole....

In all seriousness, I can relay the opposite story. I have a friend who was born and grew up outside the U.S. and was a world-class athlete in her chosen sport. I don't know if she was a member of her national team or not, but at the very least she knew all the members of the national team, trained with them, and competed against them regularly. This country perenially has one of the top teams in the world in this sport, while the U.S. has traditionally been lower ranked. when she was in her mid-to-late 20s, when she was living (and teaching this sport) in the U.S., she had an offer to compete in the Olympics on the U.S. team. She turned it down, because she was afraid all her friends would laugh at her for "not being good enough" to make the team from the country she was from.

What would you have done?
