and might be the worst 95 point team I've ever seen, I was tempted to start an off season thread. However, at this point because Detroit and Boston have to play each other which will probably doom one of them, I still think they get in. Probably backing in. Honestly, I'd rather have them get the 8th seed and go head up with the Craps. The only way I can see this sorry ass team doing anything is to pull up a huge, first round upset and gain some confidence. That being said, unless thickhead AV is going to go young, roll the dice and play Skjei and McIlrath during the playoffs along with Hrvik and Lindberg, I don't see this team doing jack shit. Where is Lindberg AV you dickhead? Did you learn nothing about Swedes and their playoff hockey abilities when Fast was probably your second or third best forward in the playoffs last year? Remember at the deadline where one of the guys I wanted them to go after was Grabner which they probably could have gotten for nothing and had Toronto eat half his contract. That would have been tremendous. This team is fucking slow. It's painfully obvious. I for one despite a lot of great playoff hockey am looking forward to this team being broken apart and the dumbasses in charge getting back some of the countless draft picks they pissed away on stupid rentals.
I'm not a +/- guy but it's telling that of all our regulars, Yandle is the only minus player. As many of us here said. He should have been dealt at the deadline. It's going to be a very tough off-season for some of the players like M. Staal, Girardi and Nash who probably will be asked to accept deals out of town. Sadly, I'm not sure if Gorton has near the brain power to rebuild this team. Giving up 2 second round picks and Saarela for E. Staal showed his inexperience and stupidity as a GM. As hard as it is for many to stomach here. Hank has lost something. He's not what he was even last year. This is the first year he's shown some age. Making it worse is the fact the team defense has been laughable a lot of games in front of him. If anything, he's going to need a fast, tough defense in front of him that will not allow all these glorious scoring chances as he approaches 40.
Why don't you just bump the offseason threads you started in November this year and the past couple of seasons. Or the Hank has lost something threads you started the past couple of seasons. No need to start a new one....
I am...all we can do is smile and laugh right now. We are where we are. Let's see what we can do game 1 at Pitt. That is the real season for us. Maybe we fall flat...if we play like we have played for most of the season that will be the case...or maybe we get our game together and flip the switch to start the playoffs....unlikely but crazy things happen in the NHL playoffs. At this point that's all we can do. Sit and watch how it plays out.
Need that win monday against columbus or our chances are going to be better to finish 1st wc than 3rd in metro. Can't believe we gave 2 games away to carolina and buffalo.
