Benson heading back to Texas?

Cedric Benson, who grew up in Midland, Texas and played for the University of Texas at Austin, will meet with the Houston Texans to discuss a possible stint as a change-of-pace back behind Steve Slaton, reports the Houston Chronicle.

Benson was drafted No. 4 overall by the Chicago Bears in 2005, but never really caught on in Chicago and was released prior to the 2008 season. Picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals, Benson became an invaluable part of the team's offensive attack down the stretch, rushing for over 100 yards in three of the team's four victories, and in the one game he didn't rush for 100 yards, he was able to supplement his 73 yards on the ground with 79 receiving yards. It had previously been reported that the Bengals considered re-signing Benson their top offseason priority.
