Re: Bentley "may never play again" <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Browns lifted the veil of secrecy from LeCharles Bentley's knee injury a little more on Tuesday, disclosing that the center will miss the 2007 season after an upcoming third surgery.General Manager Phil Savage even ventured to speculate that Bentley "may never play again."The admissions were the most candid public comments about Bentley's future made by Savage since the center tore his left patellar tendon in the first team drill of Browns training camp on July 27. Bentley had surgery the next day. A week later, Bentley appeared in front of the media and vowed to make a complete recovery. Soon thereafter, his hopes were dashed by the onset of a staph infection in the area the tendon was repaired. The Browns acknowledged the existence of the staph infection on Oct. 27. Bentley had a second surgery the next day to treat it."I think the staph was certainly a setback, but I think the injury was severe enough [that]. . . you know, we said initially there may be multiple procedures," Savage said.Bentley, from St. Ignatius and Ohio State, repeated his vow to play again during a public appearance in December. Bentley's agent, Jonathan Feinsod, said Tuesday, "I guarantee that LeCharles will play again at a Pro Bowl level."Bentley is rehabbing in Arizona, Savage said, trying to strengthen his leg for a third surgery in May or June."There's got to be some recovery from what he's been through this fall," Savage said.Bentley also had major surgery on the same knee after the 2003 season to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.</div>
Re: Bentley "may never play again" A bit of old news, but I feel bad for the guy. At least he was able to get his big payday first so he doesn't have to worry about money (At the Browns expense).
