Bentley announced today that it has received the go-ahead from [irl=http://www.forbes.com/companies/volkswagen-group/]Volkswagen Group[/url] to begin making an SUV. The vehicle, which will be sold as model-year 2016, will be the automaker’s fourth model and will be assembled at the company factory in Crewe, England. Executives there have declined to give specifics yet on the engine and transmission components, but Bentley President Christophe Georges has promised it will be the most luxurious and most powerful SUV on the market. (An EXP 9 F concept SUV earlier this year featured a 6-liter W12 engine, an eight-speed automatic AWD and 23-inch alloy wheels designed to evoke Bentley’s Le Mans cars of the 1920s.) The SUV represents an £800 million ($1,229,360,000) investment by the company over the next three years.
