Prospect Matt Dominguez kicked off his quest to make the Marlins' Opening Day roster in a big way on Monday. Dominguez hit a no-doubt two-run homer in the second inning, helping to propel Florida to a 6-3 win over the Cardinals in the Grapefruit League opener for both teams.

Dominguez also showed off his much-heralded glove, snaring a Skip Schumaker line drive to prevent extra bases in the first inning. Gaby Sanchez added two doubles and two RBIs for Florida in support of winning pitcher Anibal Sanchez.

Lance Berkman went deep in his first at-bat in a Cards uniform, hitting an opposite-field solo shot in the second inning for the home team. All three new Cardinals in the starting lineup reached base, as Ryan Theriot drew a walk and Gerald Laird doubled.
