If you're a GM and have your choice of catchers over the next five years, who are you taking? Vote and then give reasons why! If you vote other, please tell us who you think it should be. Poll will be up for five days or until it's clear who the winner is. We will do all positions, including Starter, Setup Man, Closer, and Designated Hitter.
Homer FTW! I went with McCann. I've seen his progression over the year, and he's become pretty damn good. I could see him getting better. He's a bit slow, though.
Martin. Not only is he the best in the game today but he was born a few blocks away from my school. homer vote!
I'm extremely lazy and I don't feel like looking up baseball stuff right now so...what's the deal with Mauer as the favorite?
Easily Joe Mauer. You could make a great argument for Martinez being right after Mauer, instead of Martin.
It's kind of surprising Martinez doesn't get more love. He's consistently hit .300 w/ 20 homeruns 100 rbi the past four years.

He was the first catcher in over fifty years to win the batting title, when he hit .347 in 2006. He doesn't have a lot of pop but most think he will get better in that category as he is only 24.

it's unlikely that victor will still be catching in a few years . . . and there are rumours that the Twins will eventually move Mauer as well, although I'm not sure I believe that. I still think I'd go with Mauer.

The stereotype, of course, is a catcher between 5'11" and 6'2" or so.
