Best current NBA player that has never put on an all star game jersey. There are many talented names that have not been picked to the ASG, so...

Cedric Maxwell and Chauncey Billups were both Finals MVP and never played in an All-Star game.

Elton Brand was an All-Star in the 2001-2002 season.

Right now I'd say the list goes like this -

    1) Pau Gasol
    2) Mike Bibby
    3) Zach Randolph
    4) Jason Richardson
    5) Corey Maggette
    6) Carmelo Anthony
    7) Joe Johnson
    8) Chris Bosh
    9) Chauncey Billups
    10) Desmond Mason/Rip Hamilton

Mmmm...Bosh has been in the league for 2 years, and during the All-Star break last year, his stats weren't even good enough. Even his season stats wouldn't have gotten him in the All-Star game last season....

Elton Brand - He made it as an injury reserve in 2002
    Mike Bibby - He's good
Corey Maggette is a possiblity if he could stay healthy.
Zach Randolph - Stay healthy and needs some team wins to make it as a F in the West.
Pau Gasol - Get more MPG, and team wins, he can with 20-9-3 and 2+ BPG.
    Jason Richardson - Win games
    Larry Hughes - Stay healthy
Andre Miller isn't a bad one either
Chauncey Billups- He should, though definately not because he won Finals MVP, that has nothing to do with this.
Rip Hamilton - More of a possiblity now that he's improved his all-round game, wasn't really deserving before in comparison to the other guards in the East [still isn't now, but team sucess + good numbers could get him there].
Lamar Odom - In the East he could've as a F

Nick was a all-star in 1998, 4 Lakers made it that year Eddie Jones, Shaq, Kobe & Van Exel. But in my opinion Van Exel really didnt deserve to go that year. Stephon Marbury was having a much better year then Van Exel, But Van Exel got robbed for his spot in 97', when he should have made it cause the coaches had their personal gripes against Van Exel...so they left him off but he had a personality makeover(short term in the opinions of some) in 97-98, so the all-star voters took him as a makeup selection for the year before....but Steph was more deserving imo...Del Harris despite the fact that everyone tought him & Van Exel hated each other based on their run-ins, actually was the man guy campaigning for Van Exel in 98.

While I think he has never been and will never be a top guard, Biby is the #1 in my book. In the past he has deserved to go but its probably too late now with Baron Davis arriving in the west. Also Jason Richardson and Elton Brand (unless you count when he was a reserve).

Your lists are really good. But some of you miss the whole point of the All-star game; to put on a show. Some people named are very good players no doubt, but they don't neccessarily make the game very interesting. (ie: Rip Hamilton. Very good player no doubt, but isn't too flashy like the guards you see in the ASG like Kobe, T-mac, and what not.

Since when has the All-Star game been completely about show? I'm pretty sure that even in today's era of dunks and crossovers, it's still an honor given to the most talented players of the season's first half. You wouldn't see Zydrunas Ilgauskas on the team if it was all about entertainment.
