If you're a GM and have your choice of first baseman over the next five years, who are you taking? Vote and then give reasons why! If you vote other, please tell us who you think it should be. Poll will be up for five days or until it's clear who the winner is. We will do all positions, including Starter, Setup Man, Closer, and Designated Hitter. Previous Selections: Catcher: Joe Mauer (Minnesota)

Complete package (minus speed). Gold Glove, awesome slugger. Great contract. -Petey

The only reasons NOT to take Pujols is if you think he'll need major reconstructive surgery on his elbow or you think he has been lying about his age. I could envision Howard and Fielder aging very quickly like Sexson did (although both are still very young, and it wouldn't happen for a while). I REALLY like Adrian Gonzalez, but his numbers and impact are depressed in that ballpark.
Pujols by 20 miles. I would also rank Howard and Fielder above Tex, but I think both of them will decline faster after the next five years than he will.
HOMER VOTE- Carlos Guillen. He has the glove of a SS, he can also put the ball in play. and really how hard is it to stand on first and catch the ball?

Pujols, pretty easily. Morneau was the first one that came to mind though, but I'd take Pujols in a heartbeat.
Ryan Howard is an assassin with the bat, but not very good with the glove. I'd like to say my vote goes to him, but Pujols is just too good, as long as he's not falling apart. As long as Mark Teixeira is associated with Scott Boras, I'll pass.
