I'd have to say the Rockets are up there. They have like 5 different kinds of jerseys, have a nice website, good advertising.
It just depends on how popular and how good that team is. No team really dominates like 5 or 6 years ago, which would be Lakers
Miami Heat, no question about it. "Flash" is all over the media, "Shaq" is still considered legendary by most media, their dance team is considered the best in the NBA, they are considered championship contenders despite having a sub par season, are never off the radar, you have Shaq and D-wade jersey's everywhere, its non stop if you ask me. Every NBA Players wants to play in the "beautiful city of Miami"
The knicks still make a ton of money despite all their losing ways.Same with the Warriors. The warriors have raised the ticked prices EVERY YEAR the last twelve years, promising playoffs every year. They call your home phone daily to ask if you want to buy more tickets. They make some of the most money in the league despite losing all the time.
Well another thing I meant was 'which team has the best PR', and what team knows how to best advertise, like setting up nice looking websites, creating good buzz, getting good merchandise out there, etc.?
Portland has a great website but otherwise they don't do very well at advertising. The Suns do a great job - they produce their own podcasts and have a very big and informitive website.
I know the Lakers have always been near the top. In the 60's and 70's it was the lure of Hollywood pussy that the other teams liked when they played the Lakers. In the 80's it was Showtime, Magic, the Laker Girls and all those f*cking movie stars hogging up all the seats. It's just an image thing. So, of course LA and New York are going to have an advantage. It's hard to find a team more popular world-wide than the Lakers. They started that sh*t in the 1960's, where do you think all this hyped up sh*t, dance squads and expensive tickets came from? The Lakers. Before they moved to LA, basketball was a business, but not a show.

Yeah, that aint a lie. sh*t like that happend all the time. Even in the 70's when I started going to the games, the chicks there were all trying to whore it up. Times have changed, it wasn't as "family-friendly" then.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>It just depends on how popular and how good that team is</div>Popular yes, record-wise no. The Celtics were still selling out games when Pierce, Wally, Tony Allen, Ratliff, were all injured and the team was in a mess.
they weren't selling out games lolonly about 78% of the seats were filled..that's about middle of the road in the leagueI think Los Angeles though...Kobe switching his number to 24..even if it wasn't why he did it was a marketing GENIUS move..everybody went and got a #24 Kobe jersey and he ended up selling the most jersies in China and probably the US too
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bobby @ Apr 19 2007, 02:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Probably the rockets since they have a large population of Chinese fans</div>That's more because of Yao Ming though...not the team as a whole.
