Who is the best player ever in the Phoenix Suns history?Candidates:-Charles Barkley-Kevin Johnson-Steve Nash-Tom Chambers-Paul Westphal
Charles was the best, but no one likes him anymore. He was a lazy bum and was a big reason why we choked against Houston and we never won one. I'll go with Kevin Johnson for now. He was a great PG but was overshadowed by Stockton so no one really remembers him and he did have some injuries but was a great player. If Nash continues what he's doing for a couple more years and wins 1 championship he will pass him.
Charles Barkley was clearly the best. MVP (deserving), should have won a ring, etc. Nash is a close second but chuck did it for longer.
I would go 1. Kevin Johnson - He put up the wins and stats for a longer period then anyone else worthy of mention. Think what Steve Nash has done and then add 4-5 more years of playing at that level and you find KJ. Averaged 19 pts (18.8) 10 assists (9.6) throughout his career in Phoenix. At his peak during a 4 year stretch (88/89-91/92) he was as good as any point guard in the league. One of only 4 players to average 20 pts/10 assists in three seperate years.2. Steve Nash - 2x MVP, back-to-back WCF appearances who could pass KJ with a championship and/or a few more years of playing at this level. 3. Charles Barkley - The best player who ever put on a Suns uniform but not the best player while being a member of the Suns. As ASUfan has already pointed out Barkley was here for only a couple years and he seemed to care more about which night club he was going to get wasted at more then games themselves which costed the Suns at least one championship.
WestpahlJohnsonBarkleyin no particular orderWestpahl was amazing and almost lead the team to knock off an incredible Celtics team in the 76' finals. Barkley for obvious reasons, had an amazing season and if it wasn't for the best player the league has ever seen, the Suns would have got that ring. Kevin Johnson was also an incredible point guard with amazing athleticism who was the general of that great offense in the early 90's.
What about Adams, Davis, Hawkins & Van Arsdale?I think when his career is over Amare will be the greatest Sun ever.
I really doubt Amare will be...It's really Barkley, KJ, Hawkins/Nash and I think if Nash keeps it up he'll pass them all. The other guys are all right behind.Dagameplayer, it's just silly to put Kidd over Nash in their years as Suns.

He could win titles for the Suns and have career averages of around 23 pts & 10/11 rbs (if not better)

I'm just going to enjoy what he's doing now and hope that he stretches out his time without more knee trouble for as long as possible.
Charles Barkley easilyNash would be 2nd right behind himMy personal favourite Suns ever was of course Danny Ainge
