Who is it in your opinion? Many people seem to give it to Jay-Z but there are other people out there, too. Ha, Lil Wayne seems to think he is.
It's Nas. No ifs ands or buts about it. Not only is he the best living, but best of all time. Dont even bother arguing it either.
Could be? Part of being great is longevity. He went platinum 5 times and double platinum twice. His first, and best, album was in 1994, and hes still in the game making great music. He's the best ever.
Only Nas song I've ever heard was the one where little kids sang I know I can be what I wanna be...etc.

I would either have to give it to Jay or Nas both of these dudes have been in the game for a long time and still make good new sh*t.
I forgot about Jay Z, I don't particularly like nas, and wouldn't consider him the greatest rapper ever...At all.
Then you're an idiot, and it just shows how little you know about rap. This almost offends me, because Nas is far and away the best ever, even people who don't like him agree with that. Jay-Z is real good, he's just way too hyped and overrated by MTV. They ranked him 1 over Pac, Biggie, Rakim, and Nas. IMO of those 5 (top 5), Jay is 5th... so yeah, basically MTV is on his cock. He's real good though, just overrated.

Just the simple fact he dropped quite possibly the best rap album EVER along with another couple of classics should be enough to make him number 1.Jay, Andre 3000, KRS, Rakim, Ice Cube and Scarface are also great rappers which are still alive.
We should make a thread that has best rappers ever if we dont already have one, that thread would get a lot of debate in it.

Jay-Z, Nas, Rakim, and Eminem are hands down the greatest rappers of all-time.Personally I'd give it to Eminem, for what he's done.ALSO: Immortal Technique is the best rapper out right now, right now he's better than Eminem (past his prime) and The Game (entering his prime SOON)

I don't think they're that great. They're overhyped. And don't say I don't know what I'm talkin bout because I've heard all his cds and I used to be a big fan of biggie. as for big L I don't like him too much I had Lifestyles of the poor and dangerous and the big picture... I don't see what's that great about him. Tupac, I'm a big fan of. He's a great rapper, skill-wise and flow. Eminem detoriated when he started producing himself because his flow was much better when Dre did everything. Eminem is still, the rapper with most skills and fans right now in this generation. Eminem has impacted rap more than any other rapper dead or alive.

Ha ha ha ha........Jay is better then Biggie and Pac, Pac has quite possibly 1 classic album with Me Against the World while Jay drops two with Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint. Biggie put out two classics, I'll give him that and Ready To Die is a top 20 album at least but he lacks longevity. nobody knows if he might have made a crappy album following Life After Death.
The 7 Day Theory Album is pac's best album and is a classic along with me against the worldBig L is a lyrical juggernaut..but yeah idk if hes better than hovaBiggie...like you said has two classicsand Nas...I always like Nas over JayZ anyway
