I like Stve Kerr or, the Czar Mike Fratello. How about one of the worst. John Thompson. Don't get me wrong he was an amazing coach but he has no idea how to commentate.

Kevin Harlem without a question for me.

    "Buckle up for LeBron James!"
"He just suck the Gravity right out of the Building!"

Just some couple of lines he's used

I agree with you Dre on my Carolina boy Brad Daugherty, and I love his accent, it's straight outta North Kakalaki.

I prefer the play-by-play calls to be more subdued. Harlem has some clever lines, but it tends to overshadow the play itself. I like the classic play-by-play of Marv Albert and Dick Stockton. I hated Bob Costas's play-by-play, when he took over for Albert for a year or so.

Locally, Bill Worrel and Calvin Murphy were a fun team when announcing Rockets games the past 12 years or so. Just the right mix of analysis and humor. Looks like those days are long gone now, though.

What about color commentary? My favorites for nationally televised games is Doug Collins. Hubie Brown was very good, too. Fratello is pretty good. Walton is ... interesting. I actually like hearing his commentary when Yao and Shaq face up. It's filled to the brim with hyperbole, but it's fun.

Ah, I can't stand Bill Walton sometimes. One of his lines that I like though is "Throw it Down Big Man, Throw it Down..", obviously he says that when a big man does throws down a nasty one, Shaq mostly, he's a Shaq Freak, and he taught his son to be one too.

I'm not bias or anything, but the best are Chuck Swirskey and the dude who does the Clipper games on KTLA5, the 'Bingo' guy.

I watch the league on many channels, but no body gets in the game like Swirskey.
He's got tons of info's about every player, and his passion towards the Raps is inexplicable.

Yea Chucks great. His name is Swirsky btw. He does know lots of things about the raps, but lots of the info he gets is from the TV Station to let you know. Maybe he'll be with ESPN one day. Our old Color man, John Saunders, is with ESPN. But I have a feeling he won't because he's bias towards the Raps, as he should be as a die hard fan, but who knows. He's got some great lines to... "That was Sick, Wicked and Nasty!" and "Onions!".

^ I agree...he was so quick and make all these anologies in seconds...

The worst gotta be Sean Elliot...man I remember when Duncan dunked on this guy...and he was all "WOW...Duncan got up in the air and was all 'smell my arm pits' and slammed it over the guy" WTF

Anyways...the Zhar is good...Marv Albert (A spectacular Move!) good.

    Luke Walton's aight.

You summized that perfectly, IMO. I love listening to Tommy and Mike (Gorman).

It truly is like having a couple of extra friends over watching the game with you. (and from time to time, you actually wonder if Tommy has raided the fridge for beers and is drunk too!) [IMG]

Sure, Tommy is an uber-homer, but he's also pretty funny to listen to. Finding Celtic fans bigger than Tommy Heinsohn is nearly impossible, so I feel honored to be able to get his insight.

As far as major network announcers go, I don't think I can come up with anyone that I think is better than Bob Costas, although he only announces during special occasions.

My bad for mispelling his name, I actually never had to write it before [IMG]

About the infos, I know the station he works for provides most of the stats and informations about the game, but from the way he talks it seems like he knows what he's talking about, like he's been there, and seen that.

</div>I LOVE when he yells at referees so loudly that they would have to be deaf not to hear him.

One Instance I can remember from last year was when PP dunked on some guy (I forget who it was, I do remember it was late in the season) and PP was called for an offensive foul, which it was obviously wasn't...

Tommy was screaming to the ref, "GO HOME TO YOUR MOTHER!!!"
He must have said it repeatedly for 5 minutes everytime the referee that made the call passed by him.

It was so hilarious, I lost it completely. I had it on Tivo for months, and I would watch it all the time. I did have the opportunity to tell him about how much I enjoyed it about a week later when I went to a game and sat in the first row directly behind Cedric Maxwell. He even gave me a Tommy point!!

Leo Rautins. He's probably the only "TV Announcer" that actually has knowledge about Basketball.
