Supplement peddler Xyience has filed for bankruptcy (chapter 11). Xyience has long been one of the main sponsors of the UFC and, it seems, the UFC has long been invested in Xyience. According to an article posted on Sherdog.com, a company called Bevanda Magica (Italian for Magic Potion) owns over five million shares in the company. Bevanda Magica also happens to share an address with Zuffa headquarters. Another company out of that same address is Zyen, the largest creditor for Xyience. Xyience has recently come under fire for ripping-off their endorsers and leading to their high-profile clients abandoning their promotional contracts with the company. At one point the major names in the UFC (Liddell, Hughes, Franklin) were heavily entrenched with Xyience. The most troubling news from Xyience was that a supplement that Sean Sherk was taking, some kind of internal joint lubricant, contained trace amounts of steroids. Thousands of units of the product were pulled from shelves in 2007. Xyience is supposedly trying to reorganize the company and continue doing business.
