The BF3 Beta is now available for download; I know this game has a huge following but I just can't get used to it. The graphics are great but the movement of the characters feel choppy and rough, like pre-COD4!. It's also very hard to tell who/where the enemy is and when you lock onto a target your gun has a freaking seizure as you try to keep it on the enemy. Sounds and visuals are solid but the movement is too distracting, in a bad way, for this COD vet. IMO, BF3 is a tier below MW3:
The strength of the Battlefield franchise is the integration of vehicles into the game and the usefulness of classes. Having helos, jets, tanks, jeeps, is what makes that game fun. Having commanders, SF, engineers is what keeps it interesting. The maps are huge and the game actually has meaning. The MW series is just about figuring out which guns are the most powerful and mastering them.
Who's getting BF3 for the pc? I'm building one and will be easy pickings for the other team as i have only really used the keyboard and mouse for strategy games like Civilization. for me and COD it rewards Lone Wolf action just as much as it does being in the thick of the battle, so it promotes a whole sh*tload of sitting around the campfire having a circle jerk while singing Kumbaya my lord and roasting marshmellows. With Battlefield you get more points for being in the battle and front lines, so it promotes the all out warfare and working together. So it appeals to me a whole lot more. And trust me I played my share of COD's online. I think I literally put 8 days in MW2 alone online. Yikes.
LOL! Some of the glitches are pretty funny I admit. They better get them worked out. One part of the map I kept falling through the bottom of the map and dying.
Alright, I will admit I have been playing some Modern Warfare lately on my PS3. I now have an online account , but have never played online. Any of you guys do this?
lol for me it is. If its a game I dont like.. it doesnt get much more than a couple hours from me. So to get around 200 hours outta me, I have to like it lol.
BF seems like a better game overall, but I prefer the game play of MW. That one game in BF where your team has to take over the whole map is sweet.
I never understood the whole "prestige" thing on COD, i was generally bored of the multiplayer by the time i made it the the first one. Only renting MW3 this year for sure, not throwing my money away until they change some stuff up.
I'll be buying MW3 for sure. I'm enticed by the spec ops to play with other people. But the only first day purchases I'm making this fall are Fifa, Skyrim, and BF3. Possibly Uncharted 3.
