John talked to an NBA exec and this is what he found out: *Blazers investigated trading Roy before he signed the extension. *Roy likely to stay with the Blazers for obvious reasons: No value. *LaMarcus Aldridge is the type of player execs love: Young, athletic, puts up numbers. A bit overpaid but still holds a lot of value around the League. *Batum is another player who will command interest from teams. *Rudy's value is a low first or an early second. If they wait too long they wont get anything for Rudy. *Joel Przybilla at worst is a very good backup Center if he can get healthy. Has trade value. *Rich Cho is making a lot of calls but has no real plan. Not proposing trades. "They're going to sit".
It'll take a season ending injury to a PG who's on a contender to get any real value for Andre Miller.
Stupid take on Rudy from Canzano. An early second already is no value. Statistically speaking neither is a late 1st (Based onhow many of them make it in the NBA) So I don't see the rush there. Other than he is ice cold.
I really hope Joel can shake off his rust so he will be valuable as a player and an expiring contract.
That is like asking Chip Kelly "what his plan is for the second half". The real answer being "why the fuck would I tell you"? I guess my point is why would a NBA exec know if he had a plan?
Is there even a way to 'plan' your way out of the mess that this roster has become? It seems like the team (from ownership to the players) is in pure water bailing mode; just trying to stay afloat long enough until a sliver of land appears on the horizon.
"They're going to sit" I seriously doubt that, I mean let's be honest if you are Cho and want to start building from your blueprint, now is the time to make the change. We all sit and ponder about the moves we would make, how we would build a team, who would be the coach. Does anyone really think that a guy like Cho who actually works as a GM doesn't do the same. He has a vision, but can he convince PA to let him work towards it. I think every loss helps Cho get more control over the future.

Intresting. So no one else thinks that most GM's have a plan for their team? Right or wrong, the team needs to decide to move forward or fall behing by staying put

I'll throw this out there. Joel probably wouldn't mind going home to Milwaukee to play. Milwaukee has some players I find intriguing. Larry Sanders for one. I also believe Corey Maghetti could be an awesome go go guy off the bench, who would also provide a post presence. This trade won't work currently in any trade machines because they won't take into account the fact that we have injury exceptions to deal, but I believe it will if you count those. Larry Sanders is an excellent defensive PF/C type who has a ton of potential. Maggette doesn't seem to fit in the Bucks system well, with his numbers down across the board, from what is otherwise a solid career. We need bench scoring. We need a future big to develope. This provides both and sends Joel to a place he calls home. We might have to throw in a player to make salaries work, but I think Greg Odens injury exception would come close to sealing the deal.
I think any team that is not progressing needs to make changes as well. The injuries to Greg and Brandon though cloud the direction we should go.
