Cheeks Impressed With 'Big Baby' <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jun 7 - Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks was pleasantly surprised by Glen Davis' relatively trim appearance, in addition to his basketball abilities during a 2-on-2 scrimmage. "You listen to people talk about him, then to see him in person -- his body was pretty much unbelievable," Cheeks said. "His body was great, and he moved extremely well for a guy his size." Davis blamed his previously expanded waistline on college life. "You think you're responsible, but you're really not," Davis said. "You want to go out and have fun with your friends, so you don't eat right. It's just hard when everybody's eating McDonald's and you're eating a salad. You don't have the support." -- Bucks County Courier Times</div> I think this dude has a chance to be a threat in the NBA, but his weight and eating habits seem to be a liability. Not to mention, a rather large guy comin to the home of the Philly Cheese Steak??? uh oh...
He actually lost a good deal of weight before his Junior season, but injuries really prevented us from seeing just how good he could actually perform at a lighter weight. I personally thought he was better served playing at a higher weight because he could use his weight to compensate for his height in the post. He is a great second round prospect but I don't know about a first round pick, maybe with our last first rounder.
Davis could be a nice reserve for us in the future. As long as he stays in shape, he could have a very nice career.
Big Baby reminds me of Mike Sweetney and Tractor Traylor. I honestly wouldn't mind him with our 2nd round pick, but not with any of our 1st rounders.

If Davis can give that kind of production he would be a pretty solid pick at 30. That is the only one of the three first rounders I would consider taking him with though. I perfect draft for me at this point, considering we keep our picks, would be getting Jeff Green, Javaris Crittenton, Davis, and Jared Dudley. Davis and Dudley are never going to be all stars but they are huge upgrades over Randolph and Hunter at the power forward position.
