Greg Savage (@TheSavageTruth) is reporting that UFC Hall of Fame referee "Big" John McCarthy will return to the Octagon to officiate the UFC on Versus 2 card in San Diego. McCarthy hasn't been in the Octagon since December 7th, 2007, at The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale. McCarthy had a falling out with the UFC following his retirement as a referee and his affiliation with the now defunct Affliction MMA promotion, as well as a commentary job on The Fight Network in Canada. McCarthy is widely regarded as the best referee in MMA.
