QUOTE

Big-Man Search Goes On Sep 14 - Looking to fill the frontcourt void created when they traded Kurt Thomas and his $8 million contract to Seattle, the Suns held workouts this week with free agents Elton Brown, Vitaly Potapenko and Michael Ruffin.

Phoenix hopes to bring in Brian Skinner next week and has scouted Esteban Batista. Mike Sweetney appears out of the picture.

Pat Burke, a Suns reserve for two years, played with Steve Nash and Grant Hill last week. Re-signing him is possible, especially with Nash's backing.

"We'd like some size, but we can't fill the end of the bench with 21 feet of guys," Nash said. "If they don't play, what's the point of having size? There are only so many big guys out there, and it's not easy to play." -- Arizona Republic

QUOTE

Still Searching
Sep 20 - The Suns do not have to officially report until Oct. 1 so there are still plenty of big man shopping days remaining as Phoenix continues to look for the right fit in a 13th man.

This week, they have taken a free look at Rodney White, the former Nugget and Warrior who has been out of the league the past two seasons. He paid his own way to come in and play in Phoenix's informal games.

On Thursday, the Suns may be taking a look at the final big man candidate they need to see. Brian Skinner will visit along with swingmen Yaroslav Korolev and Richie Frahm. -- Arizona Republic
