I hate to bring this up so early seeing as Denver is still in the playoff hunt, but I'm just interested in hearing what Nuggets fans feel is the biggest offseason priority. Denver is in a great postion, they're likely to have between 15-20 million dollars to spend on free agents this summer, so where are they looking to spend that money? Depth? Another bigmen? Perhaps a shooting guard to be a second option for Carmelo? Or maybe even a goto shooting guard (Kobe) and make Carmelo the second option? The possibilites are endless, they could bring in one helluva duo via free agency and really boost this team amongst the elite Western Conference franchises in my opinion...
I really wouldn't mess with the starting lineup on this team, except maybe bring in a center. Camby has done well for the Nugs this season, but I still don't trust him to be injury free consistently, and if they can bring in someone to back him up, or maybe even start in his place I think that would make their team much deeper. I'd also like to see Denver sign a guy like Richardson from L.A., as much as I'd hate to see him go I think he would do well there. All they have to do is get a little deeper and keep their core I think they'll be set for many years. I would also like to see Nene look to score more though, I think he could be a great scoring PF if he played more offensively.
You just said you didn't want to mess with this team's starting lineup, than you said you want to see them bring in a center to replace Camby and Q-Rich. Sounds to me like your changing the starting lineup, unless you want Q-Rich to play behind Voshon Lenard, which I personally don't see happening. Shooting Guard + Center = Success
If they could manage to get themselves either a consistently healthy center or a quality shooting guard, they could be good. Cause, right now, they need a 2nd option who is not their point guard. If they brougth in QRich, that could be deadly. That would be a hell of a 1-2 punch with Richardson and Melo. But, yea, that's about all that I think they should do.
I would love to see this team get Kenyon Martin!!! Like Phreeze said Camby is not reliable health wise, so if the management has confidence to be able to acquire KMart, it can just let Camby be an unrestricted free agent. K-Mart is a guy this team needs. He is an emotional leader for any team, he gives it 110% every night, and you can see from how much fire he has throwing down those nasty dunks. Those plays can really put fire into a team or intimidate opposing teams. We need a leader and Kenyon can be a leader for this team. As far as Kobe is concerned, it would be frickin great to see him wear a Nugget jersey next season. But I don't think it would happen because this team belongs to Melo. He is the future superstar of this team and the team has to reward the teen for all the turnaround he gave to the franchise by making him the "franchise". Kobe would be assured of that prior to signing that Denver contract and I think he would say, "on the second thought..." I just don't see Kobe wanting to be a no.2 option behind Melo. He respects Melo and his game, I believe, but Kobe wants to go somewhere to be the man and where he can still make good millions and I guess the team for all that is, uh, the Lakers.
